Hi! I have always wondered this; What computer or computers do they use on the bridge of the ORIGINAL (and only legit) Galactica. A quick look led me to believe they were PET cases, but further looking has shown this to not be so.

Does anyone have any idea about this?

Just wonderin'

Do you happen to have a link to a picture of what you're referring to? I'm guessing but like star trek I'd say they're likely using some terminal vs an actual computer (ok, I'm guessing about star trek also).

Speaking of the one you won't acknowledge is that new series over (at season 3?) or is it still going to go somewhere new?

On Star Trek, you got it, it was pretty much a terminal based setup. They were kind of more like smart terminals, cause they had those cool little multi-colored memory sticks they would use for presentations and reviewing recordings and such. You could always hear Spock talking about the "ship's computer is working on <insert research here>." But I can't say much about the Battlestar Galactica computers. A picture of one would be good, yea.

/edit Found a picture, but it doesn't look much like a PET. More like an IBM something or other. Reminds me most of that huge IBM terminal they used to use at the hospital back in the day(like 1999). The insurance company said use it so we used it. had lots of extra buttons like the one in the battlestar pic, too.

Is this what you meant??

If you're talking about the console where bridge officer Omega sat (the rotating platform), I can offer up that the monitors were customization of a commercially available tektronics model.

Yes, but I can't find anymore pics of the bridge, besides this one: http://www.angelfire.com/scifi2/nfg/gallery/DVD/013.jpg

There seems to my memory to be a lot more computers on the bridge and it looked like an actual warship.

Star Trek used Terminals by look only lol, it was really a light board and thats it, nothing actully worked except the little blinking lights lol

Your link doesn't work, it loads rloadblock.jpg and that's it. Doesn't allow views.

candle86,
How DARE you tell me Star Trek isn't real with fake computers!! Next you'll be saying stuff like Captain Kir's real middle name isn't Tiberius! :) j/k, but they sure looked real to my young eyes :p

Although heavily ridden with popups and perhaps even spyware, you should navigate to the main page and from there click on the image, as Angelfire is yet another of those who decline deep linking:

Anyway, on my monitor the above picture is so dark that I can't see anything else than a blue-black blurred computer screen in the background, no details what so ever.

Yep, yep, the one in the pic is the Techtronics unit. Keyboard layout is the same. For awhile I was thinking maybe a HP 87 but keyboard is very different.
