Hey, It's me the TV-Guy again. I just put up a news story that originally aired on June 13, 1983. It is about computer manufacturers lowering their prices on Apples and PC's.

It can be seen at:

http://www.azcentral.com/video/

Our website has changed since I last shared a video with you guys.
There is no longer a "Basement Tapes" section...yet.

So anyway, go to, http://www.azcentral.com/video/
The story is called, Basement Tapes: Computer Wars

Today you can probably find it under, Latest Video
After today you can search for it in the video search window at the top right part of the screen. When you search, search the words Basement Tapes

I hope you guys enjoy it.

Very good. Took a little to find but it's still under Most Popular for now.

Thanks for keeping us posted on these vintage broadcasts, they're always entertaining to watch.

I can't access it neither. I tried both MSIE 7 and Firefox.

In other news, I didn't know that Apple and IBM (?) had a price war in the summer of 1983. I knew Commodore decided to radically cut their prices around then. Perhaps vertical integration had come to a point where virtually all major manufacturers could make cuts and still keep margins.

A 25 year old piece on computer PRICING wars?! Meh.

Day before yesterday I read in the New York Times that AMD is finally getting it's wish for the FTC to look at what they describe as Intell's undercutting price war as an unfair tactic.

Then yesterday I read in a 1976 Popular Electronics about AMD lowering it's prices on 8080 CPUs and how Intell was sure to follow suit.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Sean
