VGA to 4pin S-video AV 3RCA TV Cable Converter Adapter

i was wondering if anyone has tried one? i was looking at some computer parts and stuff on various web sites and came across one. i thought it would be great if it worked because my old laptop died an my new laptop does not have any video output besides the VGA output.
here is one i found on ebay. looks good but i am wondering whether it will work on not for that price.

That cable is just a cable. It does not have any active electrical or colorspace conversion or image scaling logic. It will only work on the piece of equipment it was designed for. That manufacturer just took a connector short-cut and feed composite + stereo audio out on some unused pins on the DB-15. Even if you output NTSC resolution, VGA is 4:4:4 RGB+HV (5 component signals) and composite is single 4:2:0 YCbCr w/ embedded tri-level sync. Two very different signals I'm afraid.
