How to use a IEEE1394 connection with a USB port?

Plus web cam and support .

I have a Panasonic digital camcorder model PV-GS15 that I wanted
to hook up to my Hewlett Packard Compaq Presario model C769US product
ID KN986UA. MY camcorder can not record motion pictures on to an SD
card and my KN9896UA computer does not have a IEEE13494 connection it
does have USB and a memory card slot and Ethernet connection of the
connections it has I have only seen adapters form IEEE1394 also
sometimes called Firewire to USB so I bought one of such adapters
advertised as plug and play and tried it out with my above camera on
putting out a signal the computer notices the signal though indicates
it does not understand the signal. I later read that plug and play
does not always mean you do not have to do configuration for it to
work,. My goals are to view what is on my camera above on my computers
and to send such information to DVD and to the web. I have been able
to send pictures motion and still form a Fuji model A340 camera to my
computer which goes from USB to USB though the Fuji camera mentioned
hereon has no audio ability. The adapter device for IEEE1394 to USB is
SKU number B081 I have not been able to find it manufacturer name nor
manufacturer contact information though ask the seller which never
gave me such answer. Is it possible to get my goal(s) above to, work
and if yes how? I thought perhaps even though it is called plug and play that it would need some software or firmware and likely special; software or firmware. I also have used this adapter on a Sony PCV-RZ32G computer with Windows XP Home Edition 32 bit and had the same issue and same computer message when going form IEEE1394 to USB, however when I go from IEEE1394 to IEEE1394 it without the adapter form my camcorder to my Sony computer I can then send video and audio to my computer I have 3 of the SKU B081 adapters and have the same issue on all of them on both of my computers. M Sony model PCV-RZ32G uses Windows XP 32 bit home edition. Should all such IEEE1394 to USB adapters would have one standard for its electrical connections?

I could likely buy some other adapter if I could get a manufactures name address and telephone number for support if needed.

If you have my same model computer(s) please let me know as I have solved other issues with them and still need some other issues solved.

You may post your reply here only though a private
email as well would be of help and is the most dependable way to get
in contact with me since I get to many web sites to get the time to go
to them all. I am also interested in setting up web cam my Compaq
computer has built in web cam. If you private email me I can give you
my phone number to call me at or call you if you give them a phone
number which is likely the best way to set up a web cam. I would be
happy to offer you computer support on aspects of computers I know
about. With Skype I am told one can make free telephone calls I would
also like support for Skype.
AOL AV does not require any software to use it is stated.

Just buy a firewire card. They're cheap. Probably cheaper than some weird non-standard adapter. Firewire is miles better than USB in a lot of ways - one thing it excels at is sustained transfers of data - i.e. streaming video (or hard disk access). USB just doesn't cut it, which is why most good cameras are equipped with IEEE1394.

A PCI Firewire card shouldn't cost more than $25, especially for Firewire 400 (which is what most cameras use).

1) I didn't find your exact cable but the ones I did find said that the Camera must support Fire-wire to USB the cable is just a cable. I guess your camera does not support this function.

2) I suggest that this is a really specialist question and you are not likeley to get in answered in a general forum such as this. Have you tried a specialist Video site such as AVFORUMS:_

Maybe it is. I didn't look it up. Nowhere did he mention "laptop". In that case, get a PCMCIA firewire card...

And plug it in exactly where?

Are there any SDIO Firewire adapters?

A door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman manages to bull his way into a woman's home in a rural area. "This machine is the best ever" he exclaims, whilst pouring a bag of dirt over the lounge floor. The woman says she's really worried it may not all come off, so the salesman says, "If this machine doesn't remove all the dust completely, I'll lick it off myself." "Do you want ketchup on it?" she says, "we're not connected for electricity yet!"
