200 vintage laptops!

$5 a pop is what I used to pay for local ones I picked out at a recycler (that were not parted out). I don't thiink there is much gold in anything after the 486 (which are rare for recycled laptops) so there isn't much money in that lot plus you have to do a lot of work removing the boards from the plastic.

Last I checked circuit boards were being purchased for $2 a pound locally (bare boards)

Why do they always, always, always sell as a giant lot that nobody who isn't a scrapper can afford? I'd love to see if, say, one of the PPC-based Thinkpads was in there, but I'm not shelling out $995 for the privilege, that's for sure.

No sensible scrapper would pay for that, especially if you LOSE money after you get your money fromt he smelter.
$150-$200 is a lot more sensible.
