So I was looking around for some old video capture cards on ebay and found one with 21 bids so far... a whopping $1.47!

Started at $.99 jumped to $1.05 and then one guy kept bidding in $.01 increments until his $1.20 got outbid.

Thats kind of funny.

One could be tempted to bid $1.48 just to see if the $1.47 guy has reached his limit. I would assume that the guy who got up to $1.20 is out of the running by now.

I bet he did that to intimidate people with the large number of bids. I guess that guy didn't think people were smart enough to look at the current bid price.

Can one really increase the bid by $0.01 at a time? Maybe on US eBay, I think the European variants have bigger .. what do you call it, bid offsets?

I'm not sure where that setting is or was but yeah I've seen different settings in different auctions and never quite understood what controlled that increase. Obviously I noticed it more when the required increment was more than $1.

Bid increments depend on the starting price I think. This one started at $.99. Currently the price is $1.47 and you would need to bid $1.72 or more ($.25).

Not sure how he got away with .01 increments then.
