Want to make your own front panel?

I grabbed a set, since I reciently paid this much for 1 C&K switch, it seemed like a bargain. Not sure what I'll do with them as I have a number of front panels already.

Maybe not. Consider the CDC 6000 series deadstart panel:

You could build one of those for your 8-bit system using these switches, a bunch of diodes and a demux. It'd be kind of cool.

In truth, we rarely flipped more than one or two switches before deadstarting different systems, mostly to signal different options. Universally, the program simply set one of the tape drives up to read the first record into PP0.
 
Definitely cool; I've got a similar panel from a Burroughs B2700 that's been a source of switches for many years. I've even got some huge diode matrix boards, sort of the oldskool equivalent of an EPROM.

But if those switches are the ones I think they are they take a fair bit of force to toggle, almost up there with The Big Red Switch.
