Yes, they are outragous.. When I looked All I saw was Asian companies.. And didn't know who I could trust, So I was/am looking looking for the name of a place where someone has done business, and had a good experience.. THANK YOU for looking..

I've used these guys: http://www.americanmicrosemi.com/ for lots of old components. Pretty good stock, usually reasonable prices. They have a few DS8641 in stock, no DS8640. In my experience the DS8640 is pretty uncommon to find new old stock.

I would suggest getting a few junker boards and a good desoldering setup to extract components from old boards to reuse.

I've never tried sourcing any old parts out of China. At this point I would have to assume they would mostly be fake marked parts.

I found a good one in my parts, that I didn't know I had.. I have two more, of unknown quality.. (good or bad).. But the one I tried out checks out with my scope and a pulser..
