hello
I did buy , and awaits, a Rev.A computer with chassis (no PSU) , and on pictures it looks great. Price tag : 80$, not that cheap , not that expensive...

Question what version of BIOS do I need , if I like other EPROMs to function ?
- and can I use BIOS from a 5150 Rev B. to get this EPROM recognition ??

..just took a short glance , and saw a expansion unit (no cable, no tx-card) but start price 29$ and no bid as of jet !
(I have a Tecmar expansion .. so I will not buy a 5161)

If by "EPROMs", you mean the BIOS expansion ROM chip in cards such as the EGA card, then you need the third revision of the IBM BIOS.
The 7-digit number printed on the BIOS chip, U33, will inform you as to which BIOS revision you have:

First = Dated 04/24/81. Chip U33 has "5700051" printed on it.
Second = Dated 10/19/81. Chip U33 has "5700671" printed on it.
Third = Dated 10/27/82. Chip U33 has "1501476" printed on it.

The 'early' 5150 is partially documented at http://www.minuszerodegrees.net/5150/early/5150_early.htm

Thank you - I will cross my fingers and hope a Rev.A computer arrives with a 1982 version BIOS :)

Hello again
and thank you ones more.
I did get a second edition BIOS. But I took a U33 from a 5150-rev.B. (look at picture) , and it worked :)
I was able to boot from a 360K floppy and run some DOS applications from the SCSI disk. On picture you can see the rather old CPU, and the green arrow points towards the spare punched mountinghole for a 25d connector . Serial number something with 014xxxx , so it is a rather old chassis. (picture taken after the third version BIOS were mounted)
