CocoSDC adapter kits...

This was just posted on the Maltedmedia Coco list:

Hello everyone,

After this weekend I hope to be done (or nearly done) building and sending out
everyone’s SDC from the 100 unit run.

For anyone who missed this run, I’ve decided to continue to make CoCo SDC’s
available on an ongoing basis, rather than collect names for future runs.

I’ll be ordering boards/parts in smaller quantities, so prices will be
slightly higher due to a lack of quantity discounts, but they will be available.
Just send me an email.

Prices:
Kits = $30.00
Assembled SDC’s = $40.00

Shipping:
USA = $5.95
International = $15.00

Thanks everyone,

- Ed

MarkO

The CocoSDC has an onboard programmable FlashRom with 8x16k slots.
The assembled units come with SDCDOS in slot 0 and RSDOS in slot 1
Just plug in and use. It is fully compatible with the CoCo2 UK model as I use one too.

Hi there! I´m new to the forum. Hope someone can give me a hand with the CoCoSDC, as I´m a beginner in the world of Tandy. I have a US CoCo3, which works fine over here in Germany (using a step-down converter, of course). Yesterday I received a CoCoSDC from the US and it seems to be working well (and I´m deeply impressed by its quality and sturdiness). However, beside from the commands mentioned on the CoCoSDC blog, I´m missing most of the knowledge about FDD usage. When do I have to use "run", "load", "loadm" etc.? Is there a manual available, showing all the available commands? I also wonder, as the CoCoSDC offers Dragon floppy controller emulation, would it work on real Dragon 32/64 hardware?

I am fairly new too.. Mainly I have been an Apple ][ and C64 user..

The CoCo SDC ships with a modified version of the Radio-Shack DOS, Called HDB-DOS. Modified so that it knows how to access the DSK Images on the SD Card and also talk to a Drive Wire Server.. Start with the Radio-Shack RDOS Manual. Also download the CoCo SDC Manual.

LOAD is used to Load a BASIC Program from a Disk, ( a Real Disk, or a Disk Image on the SD Card or a Disk Image on the Drive Wire Server ), LOADM is to Load a Machine Language Program. I have found that if I do a LOADM, and I get returned to the BASIC Prompt, typing EXEC and Enter will usually start it.

I also wonder, as the CoCoSDC offers Dragon floppy controller emulation, would it work on real Dragon 32/64 hardware?

I understand that Darren, the creator of the CoCo SDC is working on Dragon Floppy Support. You should be able to update the Firmware on the CoCo SDC to make it work...
