Compaq Presario CDS 954 486/100 help needed

Got a nice (well after I cleaned it) Compaq Presario CDS 954 system in.

HP's site gives me a dead link for drivers, anybody happen to have them? Looking for a setup disk (it keeps the config system on the HD and my system came with no HD). Also drivers for sound and video would be cool.

Try the HP site again. At least when I just went there, the ESS 688 driver link gave me a sp1698.exe file to download. Lacking the matching hardware I can't confirm its the right file but it does look like HP has kept all the Compaq drivers on the HP ftp site.

Did anyone archive the factory restore disks for these old relics?

PM me your email address and I'll get you copies. I should have them on a Compaq CD I have here...unless it's possible and acceptable to post such things right here on the board?

I just picked up the same machine. Did anyone ever find the drivers?

These worked for me. There is a diagnostic disk and a setup disk. I think you may need the setup to use the diagnostics disk. They are .exe files that make the disks, they need to be run under DOS. There are also .txt files that explain which machines they work with.
