Kaypro 10 ROM question

I'm in the process of installing a KayPLUS ROM in a Kaypro 10, in preparation for installing a new (larger) hard drive. My K10 has a 81-180 series mainboard, but the sticker is missing from the factory ROM and I can't tell which one it is. It powers on to display version 1.9e. Assuming that this is an '83 version mainboard, the ROM should be 81-302. Can someone confirm which ROM version displays 1.9e?

I've successfully burned a 2764 with the kplus83.rom image and made the hardware modifications described in the KayPLUS manual. However, absolutely nothing happens when I power up. Everything works fine when I replace the original ROM. I want to make sure I'm following the right instructions for my combination of mainboard and ROM.

I could be mistaken but the KayPLUS won't work with the K10. This has been discussed here in the past.

I think you will have better luck with the Advent Turbo rom.

Here are the rom images (I think):

I have a working K10 with the Advent turbo rom.

I put the link in to associate signon msg (1.9e) with kaypro part number on eprom he said was missing. It may be necessary to compare the ROM images but since he said he burned an eprom that should be trivial.

According to this thread:

http://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/comp.os.cpm/IRXsnekNgSg

...there is a compatibility issue between some versions of the interface board (between the mainboard and the WD1002 controller). One of the guys proposed a hardware solution that changes the way the reset line to the WD1002 is generated, and allows the K10 to work with the Kaypro ROM, KayPLUS and Advent ROMs.

Based on that thread, I burned another ROM with the kplus84 image and the machine came to life with the KayPLUS ROM and booted with a floppy generated with the KPCNFG84 utility. I'm going to take a close look at my interface board with an eye to implementing Don Coates' fix.

This may come in handy.
