  • Hi Bob,

I couldn't see your complete response on my phone.

Don't let those pics I sent fool you. I'm a lot like you, a super user. My theory skills are limited, only because my career was not in electronics. Project management. I supported and taught users how to use computers with special software. I was an applications specialist.

Fast forward a few years ago... I got seriously involved in DIYAudio and started building gear related to my second love - audio. So, my kit building went from Heathkits in the 60s and 70s, to bare PCBs, BOMs and finished projects over the past 10 years. I'm pretty good at soldering after all these years, and now working with SMDs. I'm now part of a small international team of guys all contributing in different ways to a niche audio line of products. I help with UI stuff and user documentation.

My Sol was well-packed away for many years as life happened and I moved across the country in the early 90s to NY after a divorce. I retired a couple years ago while living in Danbury.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by a guy on the web that needed some info on the Sol, after the topic came up and he read on a thread that I was familiar with the Sol and Processor Technology. That's what prompted me unearthing mine. Now I find myself having conversations with you, just up the road, and Hugo Holden in AU! Seems like a small world. :)

Anyway, that's a little more to my story. Looking forward to meeting you in the future.

Just a thought.... Depending on your return schedule and route home from VCF-East, if you'd like to stop by for a few minutes, you'd be more than welcome. I'm just a couple miles off I-84 in South Danbury. But no pressure. :) I don't have any Sol stuff to exhibit! Either Saturday, or Sunday would work.

    My cell is: 518-506-6384.

    Rick Downs
