    Chester Electronics Kenosha

I've never been to nor never heard of this place but it looks interesting. A former co-worker who doesn't know anything about it either, sent me this video.

On a roll buying refurbished equipment this week.

One cable modem which must have a bad power supply: upon plugging in an Ethernet cable, establishes link, then goes dead, then reestablishes link, goes dead, etc. One Wintel box with a legal copy of Windows 7, but stuck in a setup reboot loop.

An all new experience in stupid packaging!!

I received what was before shipping, a pristine Gonset Communicator IV. It arrived in a thin cardboard box exactly the size of the radio, no packing material at all. This is a very heavy piece of equipment, and there was just no chance in the world of it not getting damage. I did get my money...

An all new experience in stupid packaging!!

I just received in the mail a piece of computer equipment with enough mass that it just doesn't be dropped on the floor. It arrived wrapped in bubble wrap inside a plastic shipping bag (the kind meant for documents or maybe cloth items, I think). Here's the kicker: The bubble wrap was wound...

    Spectrum/Charter/Time Warner Voice phone service

Google Voice turns out to be worse than useless. So I'm trying to find a reasonable alternative. All the SIP services that I can find seem to be very expensive. So I'm considering Spectrum Voice, especially since I use their internet service anyway. Does anyone here know what hardware is...

Commodore PET 2001-8 w/ Chiclet Keyboard - FS on Ebay

This doesn't really show it well but it's the best image I have at the moment. I don't know which models could have this; but at least the low profile cases don't look like they would have this.

Commodore PET 2001-8C with blue phosphor screen?

That's not a CRT. But the forum won't show enough clarity in my image so you'll have to zoom in for yourself.

North American only: Chinese "wall wart" plugs

Like this mobile phone recharger? It seems to fit your description other than it takes a reasonable amount of force to remove it.

    W-OT: anyone have a Sherline.or Unimat.3/4 lathe

I don't know why, but most manual engine lathes I've run had rocker posts. Clausing, mostly. I made my own Sherline clones for the same reason that someone who can afford the time would want to make their own changegears.

    Radio Shack

Heh... My wife just purchased these from Wal*mart.

    Radio Shack

Very strange: I just drove by one that appears to be in business, in Chilton, WI.

Not really HW but Compaq Slotted/Torx Dual Drive Screws

Measure the head. If it's around .138 tall, it's a standard Torx drive socket head cap screw. If it's shorter than that, it's a Torx drive low head cap screw.

    the Summer of Power Outages

In 17 years at this house, and 30 years living within 5 miles of here, the mains power has been very reliable. The power company, Weenergies, has lived up to their slogan, "Voted by our shareholders, 'Best in the Nation' at keeping the power on." For the past sieben days, however, every time...

Does anyone here have an Avoca?

I realise these computers are Uber-R@RE and collectible. And I found an original box for the operating system. So, if anyone has one, and doesn't have the original operating system box, I'd be happy to send it to you for the price of shipping.

Hooking a device driver into the KERNAL

At some point I had read instructions on how to hook a new device driver into an existing KERNAL. I scoured my book collection and can find no information on this. So it may have been in a magazine that I no longer have, or maybe even on some early website. If someone knows where to find...
