Obnoxious eBay "please use our app!" popover

The only text field I get when leaving feedback is to describe "what I loved" about the item.

Obnoxious eBay "please use our app!" popover

Maybe eBay is rolling out the change for some users and not others, but while the star ratings are still only to rate the seller, now whatever written feedback I post for the seller now also gets posted as feedback for the item itself. They're no longer separate.

Obnoxious eBay "please use our app!" popover

Not for me. This has been discussed in this thread on the eBay community forum (and the backdoor link to get around it that someone posted no longer works): https://community.ebay.com/t5/Ask-a-Mentor/Feedback-Changes/td-p/34475984

Obnoxious eBay "please use our app!" popover

Another eBay change I find baffling: anything you post as feedback for the seller now also counts as feedback for the item itself, and vice versa. So if a good seller sells you a crappy product, or a crappy seller sells you a good product, there is no way to distinguish between the two. There is...

    PC's Limited XT PC

What do you have the DIP switches on the motherboard set to? To use an EGA or VGA card, you should set the switches for display type to "none".

For Sale: spotted on Craigslist (continuous sightings)

I'm surprised they were in the PC clone market that early, but it's definitely a Model M.

Do I really need a CM11 or will a CM5 work for gaming?

VGA is great, except that many older DOS games support Tandy graphics but not VGA (or EGA), so not having Tandy graphics causes them to fall back to ugly 4-color CGA. And also, some games refuse to support Tandy 3-voice sound unless you also have Tandy graphics. If you can't afford a CM-11...

Do I really need a CM11 or will a CM5 work for gaming?

CGA is 15 colors plus black, so it depends on how you count it. The CM-4 has a 0.64 mm dot pitch, just as bad as the CM-5: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1392382/Tandy-Cm-4.html?page=3#manual

Also lately eBay is automatically using your default funding source whenever you pay via PayPal, instead of giving you a choice like they always used to before. According to this thread, the solution is to delete your PayPal account from your eBay Payments page, then the next time you buy...

    Question about the Commodore 16

The Plus/4 and C16 didn't come after the C128, unless you're talking about Commodore dumping them in Mexico and Eastern Europe to get rid of unsold stock. On their own, they were not bad computers. I had a hand-me-down C16 as a kid, and when I finally got a C64, it felt like a downgrade to not...

Atari STs have an SASI (predecessor the SCSI) hard drive port built-in, so wouldn't it be easier to use that?

    MODE.com and MS-DOS 4.01

A full install of DOS 6.x/7.x tries to load HIMEM.SYS which may be the cause of problems on your system. Try holding down Shift while booting to bypass the startup files and then edit CONFIG.SYS to remove the line that loads HIMEM.SYS.

IBM PS/1 2121 no video, weird behaviour.

Serial port UART chips and some sound cards use -12V.

IBM PS/1 2121 no video, weird behaviour.

The monitor supplies somewhere around 32 to 36 volts DC at 2 amps to the computer, and then the computer has a switching regulator which converts it down to 5 and 12 volts DC. I would look for bad capacitors on that regulator.

How to display "semigraphics" images on a 5150 with an MDA card + display?

That's simply using the upper ASCII characters and an arrangement of normal and high-intensity attributes.

Amstrad PC1640 NEC V30 Upgrade Fail

Not specifically on the Amstrad, but back in the '90s my dad had constant floppy drive read errors on a new laptop, and the service tech said it was due to a lack of shielding between the drive and the rest of the computer's circuitry.

Try wiping the top of the chip with acetone to see if they repainted an old chip to make it look new.
