Decmation D100Q Qbus Z80 coprocessor board

In theory you could use PUTR to extract the files from the image. I did it many years ago to read some 11/780 console floppy images, but the exact how is lost. I used QEMU or DOSBOX to emulate MSDOS and run PUTR. CW

    ULTRIX-32M V1.0 and microVAX II

    You probably don't have /dev/ra4*, /dev/ra5* or /dev/ra6*, so create them firstly. # cd /dev # ./MAKEDEV ra4 ra5 ra6 Then try the mount command again. # mkdir /mnt # newfs /dev/rra4a rd53 # mount /dev/ra4a /mnt You can also try reading/writing from the drive in raw mode. # dd...

    ULTRIX-32M V1.0 and microVAX II

In theory you should be able to install the RQDX3 as a second controller and copy the files from the Zulu to the RD53. That said, I'm not sure the exact steps to make the filesystem(s), and if labeling is required. A copy of the 4.2BSD system manager's manual would probably help. If memory...

H214 core memory single bit error in single location mystery

A manufacturing defect coupled with repeated heating/cooling cycles could lead to a stress fracture. A cracked ferrite would shift the response curves enough to show up as a single bit failure. CW

    Troubleshooting DEC Pro 350 w/ Ultrix-11

Based on Handbook page 8-1, Ultrix isn't (wasn't?) supported on the Pro 300 series. I'd probably start with RT-11 to make sure the hardware works. CW

What the deal with Rogue on 2.11BSD?

I believe the rogue on 2.11BSD is the public domain version which was created after OG rogue went closed source(ish) in 5.2 or 5.3. The output of 'v' command when playing will answer many questions. The CP/M version is probably based on OG rogue 3.6, but it's been many years since I've played...

    VAX 4000-300 DSSI dies?

We need a Zulu with a speaker to output a high pitched whine! And clunking sounds when it seeks :) CW

    PDP-11/05 restoration blog

I found Berg headers to be too big for HP pods and would stretch the sockets to the point the grippers wouldn't stay attached anymore. I got some HP 01650-63203 Termination Adapters which go from the 40ish pin cable to a 2x10 header. Very nice for debugging hardware that was designed for it. CW

    PDP-11/05 restoration blog

Well, there's yer problem, Berg header pins are only 0.025in (0.64mm). :) Browsing Digikey, you can select the 'Pin Size - Above Flange' to be what you want for a snug fit. I don't see any exactly 1.00mm, but 1.02 or 1.04mm is pretty close. For example, This might work or This if you want gold...

    PDP-11/05 restoration blog

Can you measure the gripper pin (where the cable attaches) with some calipers to get a size estimate for the pin you need? It's not the cleanest solution, but perhaps you can find some solid wire that's the right diameter. CW

    Newly acquired 11/23+

Some can even be damaged by proper use.... I briefly used an SLU that would occasionally fry the buffers if the terminal was powered on before the computer. How that slipped through a design review is beyond me. CW

RL01 Write Errors Past Cylinder 49

This just arrived, what to do ?

Unfortunately Zoro no longer has the same caster I ordered, and I can't find any info besides the Zoro part number. They have a pretty good selection, so I recommend you look and see what you like. I got swivel casters front and back without brakes. Hooded Twin Wheel Swivel...

This just arrived, what to do ?

There is a plastic door on the lower right of the front (facing the front) which provides access to the remote disk buttons (R/W, Online). Inside that door there is a bolt near the bottom right corner of the front which, along with the bolt shown in your first picture, attaches the side panel...

    vcb02 internal cabling

I lit out a cable and I get something slightly different. Note, I dropped the 'bonus' pins on the ends to get the numbering correct. In your pinout: 1) The video grounds are crossed (as seen in the DB15 connector picture I posted) 2) The mouse and keyboard grounds are swapped 3) Keyboard TX/RX...

    vcb02 internal cabling

First question, do you have a 20 pin or 24 pin connector on the graphics board? The bulkhead connector I posted is for a 24 pin, the bulkhead @pbirkel@gmail.com posted has a 20 pin connector. CW

Thank you. I knew about the hockey-puck (DEC VSXXX-AAA) with a round connector but didn't know they made a mouse with a DB-15 connector also. CW
