Western Europe Making paper punch chards - Help needed

Al, I think in Europe at least we still have airline boarding cards which I believe are punched card stock and punched card size. I recently received one recently in respect of a guide dog but I don't seem to have kept it to check with the micrometer. Dave P.S. I did look at getting some made...

    DEC units on ebay

OK, so I plugged the HDMI out from the Extron DSC 301 HD into a BENQ monitor, and then plugged the RGB from a VAX/4000 VLC The moiré patterns are from the camera. Then my Atari ST on Monochrome High Resolution. Not so great but I am sure it could be improved. Then in Medium and Low res.

    DEC units on ebay

Are you sure. Much to my surprise I found that several of my VGA TFT monitors work with sync-on-green and my VAX VLC so its worth a try.. I do see patterning on the background but the display is rock solid and clear. I have also been using an Extron DSC301...

    What to run on mainframes?

Well given "modern mainframe" means IBM Z and whilst they only occupy a couple of racks the power and tech involved is impressive, powerful and expensive. So its generally reserved for high volume time critical applications such as banking/finance/stock trading and airline reservations. I think...

Western Europe Documation punch card reader

I had one shipped to the UK. Can't remember what I paid for the unit. Shipping cost me around £250 from memory. According to the manual it weighs 34.4kg and its too big for standard luggage. It needs 60hz mains so it needs a frequency converter. They are another £200-400 pounds (it has a high...

    IBM 1401 - UK

Well if you run it 24 hours a day, 24 times the kw/hour. There is a Physical Planning Manual here: http://ibm-1401.info/C24-1404-3-1401-Inst-Man.pdf which list the power needed for various configs. Looks like from 2Kw up to 10kw for a big system. So for a medium system, say 5Kw, at current UK...

    IBM 1401 - UK

I don't believe any one has a working 1401 in the UK, or even Europe, or other computer of that era. I think the closest to that nature is the IBM1130 at TNMOC at Bletchly Park:- https://www.tnmoc.org/ibm1130 there is a IBM1620 at Wigton https://t-lcarchive.org/ibm-1620/ but its not working...

    Plessey Peripheral Systems Micro 1

It appears to be a DEC/Digital LSI11 or Micro-11 based system. I am pretty sure its a Q-BUS system with a Digital/DEC CPU board, top in the picture, and a Plessy memory card below.. Plessy made a range of QBUS cards so the other cards may be DEC or Plessy. It should be possible to identify the...

    Fake ram?

I found two ads for these chips, same seller:- https://www.ebay.com/itm/125387627037 => these look like the dodgy ones https://www.ebay.com/itm/115708210078 => these look better but as he seems to only sell commodore bits and has 100% positive feed back i suspect both are genuine pulls.

Spider Solitaire - Can the Cards Really be Random?

Generally when we as humans are asked to generate random sequences we don't put in enough runs of the same result. We expect random to be different each time but thats not the way things work. However some of the other XP games don't deal at random, they just have pre-defined games which allows...
