    XT-IDE Card mysteriously died...

Yeah, I also plugged one in backwards one time and had to replace one of the 7400-series ICs and the ROM too, iirc. If you've got one of the ones with SOIC components, those aren't too bad to solder. Hardest part is getting the old one off. I'd just cut the legs and desolder them indvidually...

    Apple IIgs Possible bad IWM?

Alrighty. I'll let you know when I make it to the post office. Probably won't be until Saturday, would be my guess.

    Pacific Northwest Heathkit H19, $250

Uuuuuugh, I want it so badly. It's so clean and straight. You have to keep me from buying it........ I already have 7 serial terminals, and two H19s.... I mustn't..... Look at it this way: It's just the right size to hang out on top of your H8. Make a little shelf thing... It'd be really...

    Apple IIgs Possible bad IWM?

Like I said, it's pretty bad. Two pins disintegrated on the side where the battery leakage was worst, and the ones that are left are only holding on by a thread, I tried grinding down into it a little to try to expose enough good metal to solder fly wires to, but that ended up about how you'd...

    Apple IIgs Possible bad IWM?

Lemme see if I can find it. It's dark out right now, but I'll try to remember to look when I get home this evening and get back to you.

    Pacific Northwest Heathkit H19, $250

Take it Scott. I've been thinking about PMing him, but I already have two....... They are really nice terminals. (edit: I was thinking of the DT-1 there when complaining about imperfect vt-52 emulation) Think of it this way: You'll have the correct terminal for your eventual H11, once you...

    Apple IIgs Possible bad IWM?

I've got one with 2 or 3 of the pins corroded off from battery acid if you want it (and I can figure out which dead parts jar I threw it in). I was going to try to mill into the body to where I could solder on fly wires, but eventually just got disgusted and bought a cheap ROM3 with a busted up...

    Apple IIgs Possible bad IWM?

When I was trying to find and IWM for a ROM3 board, I came to the conclusion that the IIgs IWM is its own special thing, and that none of the mac ones will swap with it. I may be wrong, but I was never able to locate anything else with a compatible IWM. I'd get one of the BMOW Liron clones and...

    WTB: TRS-80 Model II, 12, 16, 16b, or 6000.

I found one a while back, thanks. It would be nice to have the disk expansion unit but yeah, not worth the shipping across the country. :P

    Help for identify tantalum caps

Note the difference between the ceramic capacitors and the tantalums. The tants are more "spherical", while the ceramics are "flat". Ceramics don't go bad, so you won't need to mess with any of those. You'll see a lot of them used as bypass caps near ICs. The tants will tend to be at power...

    Greaseweazle Woes....

I got it figured out. It was a combination of needing to use a USB2 port (as USB1 lacked bandwidth to stream the flux back to the 'weazle fast enough) and having to be really picky about drives.

    Greaseweazle Woes....

I am converting it to a sector image when I read. Maybe I should convert that to a flux dump and then write that instead of trying to have fluxengine convert it on the fly. All I know is, the people at adafruit are doing it with their "greaseweazle compatible" hardware and fluxengine: Maybe...

    Greaseweazle Woes....

Using Fluxengine, I can read prodos disks and they work in Linapple. I can read dos3.3 and raw order disks, but they don't work in Linapple. Writing back fails with a buffer underflow error from the Greaseweazle, regardless of prodos or dos3.3 order (or raw order). Reading and writing...

Please cry with me - My Osborne 1 chewed up my DD boot disk :( Advice sought.

I've carefully cut open disks with factory labels and replaced the donut with one from another disk, then glued the edges back down. If you are sad about ruining an original factory disk, I mean. You gotta blow the schmoo out of the fibery stuff pretty well though.

    H88 takes up smoking..

If you are quick, you can catch the magic smoke in a jar and either put it back in or sell it on ebay. :3

^^^ And they don't generate RFI like switchers do, if you have ham radio equipment nearby.

    H88 takes up smoking..

I've replaced all the smurfbombs in my H8 with same-value nichicon electrolytics. One on my zero-org card had burned like that. I suspect that the board is fine, just clean the schmoo off with a toothbrush and fix it. Most, not all, but most of those 2.2uF tants are across the power supply...

The one that slots into the disk cubby? I am always interested in trades. Currently looking for some DS/DD 5.25 floppy drives that work or are fixable, or anything else interesting.

Identifying capacitors on TEAC floppy controller board

Oh right. I was looking at C25, C16, etc in the original pic. Sorry about that. But the question still remains. *Those* are ceramic caps, right?
