    C64 needs VIC chip

If you paid via PayPal, that is a legit challenge. He advertised it as tested and working and you got it otherwise. I have had to do that before and PayPal is pretty good at holding sellers to the terms. That buyer may blacklist you, but VIC-ii's are not cheat

    Vic-20 printer interface

I think it uses the ground on the serial port, but you may want to double check, if you find a PDF of the manual or schematics of the device it should confirm

    Vic-20 printer interface

The pinout is the same on the top and the bottom for the datasette connector, just solder the wire to the pin shown below and would could be good. There are even 3D print models for the datasette connectors if you want something easier to put on/remove.

    Vic-20 printer interface

I think that was to draw the 5v from the power on that connector. it is an easy fix is you have a 6 pin edge connector

    C64 needs VIC chip

Just an odd question, but do you know if the C64 in question works when you put in a known working VC-ii? I just ask because the seller is listing them as tested on the auction, and with multiple failing I was just wondering before you spend to much on replacement chips.

    PET 4032 Issue

I plan on doing that. If it looks good after a few weeks I will start to tackle the other issue, which it a lot more random, but the symptoms are the same every time, and I will need video evidence of this to explain it fully, but I want to make sure the power is reliable

    PET 4032 Issue

The thermometer has been 63-65 the entire time since I started on this. I can get get specifically in my office, but it has been cool the entire time. If that fails I will continue troubleshooting, but that issue seems to be resolved now. Thanks again to everyone for their input

    PET 4032 Issue

So, checked the power connector pins on the MB with a magnifying glass rather than just naked eyeing it as I did before, still don't see any cracks even when I try to move the pins with my fingers. Still, broke out the leaded solder and the soldering iron and reflowed and added a bit of fresh...

    PET 4032 Issue

Yea, I can see the lot code, I was hoping there was something easier to determine dates codes with. The component number is covered by the capacitor itself, but since the ceramic ones on either side are C4 and C6, I am going to assume the one I am looking at is C5. It is a 25V 4700uF. This is...

    PET 4032 Issue

My other major issue with this PET *IS* intermittent. I happens almost everytime, but WHEN can change. But I want to get it to power on reliability first. I am tackling this one first since I can repro it on demand almost everytime I need to. I was just asking since it was near the power...

    PET 4032 Issue

All the pins on the connector on the board look good, I may try to reflow them and add a bit more solder to them just in case it is something I cannot see. The connector from the PSU looks good, no blackened spots. Looking my board over I am seeing a single electrolytic capacitor on it. Does...

    PET 4032 Issue

I had before and didn't find anything, but I may break out my magnifying glasses to see if there is a hairline crack I missed (would not be the first time)

    PET 4032 Issue

Solder joints look good, and like I said the MiniPET has none of these issues when plugged into it, which is why I only originally suspected the big blue, but if the issue are only present on one of the two boards I have to test with, that is leading me to suspect the issue is on the OG PET...
