Least memory hungry printer networking options?

Yeah, TINY was it. I found it last night again after taking another look. And yeah, that NEOS is probably what I remember. 40kb is still quite a chunk of RAM though...

Artisoft "The Network Eye" / tne.exe; what was it?

I've seen a reference to an app called "The Network Eye", aka tne.exe; apparantly it was a remote control program for MSDOS systems. Anyone have any information on it? Can't find anything else beyond a passing mention...

Least memory hungry printer networking options?

I've actually got a decent setup right now using some switchboxes, a Retroprinter, and an Epson LX350 printer. I was just exploring what other possibilities were out there. I'm 99% positive I came across exactly what I'm thinking about on a site somewhere, but I've forgotten what it was called...

Least memory hungry printer networking options?

I have two printers and three computers, and was curious what printer sharing software options there were to share these printers between the vintage computers, all running MSDOS.

Least memory hungry printer networking options?

Is there any sort of basic packet driver print redirection software? I know that MS network client can do printer sharing, but it consumes a LOT of memory. I feel like something more efficient ought to be otu there somewhere...

Fit a printer to a vintage Varian Spectraa 10 plus Atomic absorption spectrophotometer

That's convvenient, the LX-350 has serial support. It's honestly the best retro printer I've found!

Fit a printer to a vintage Varian Spectraa 10 plus Atomic absorption spectrophotometer

You might have luck with a retroprinter device from retroprinter.com, I picked one up recently and have been very happy with it. The author may be able to work around your issue if it occurs on that device. I also have an LX350 and have had no issues with my various MSDOS printing escapades so...

Printing from vintage computers: New Epson LX350 and Retroprinter PI hat are phenomenal

I've been interested in getting my vintage PCs connected for printing. I've ruined(?) an HP Laserjet IIID with an ebay cartridge that was a solid brick of toner and seems to have damaged some of the feed gears. I've had two Laserjet 1100 printers begin feeding multiple sheets at once or...

Trackstar - Apple II clone on a PC ISA card

I found my project on oshpark but I THINK this has a problem, the trackstar connector had to be populated from the back (or something like that.) Hopefully I have the original project files somewhere.

Trackstar - Apple II clone on a PC ISA card

I do have a PCB file available for the trackstar floppy adapter I designed a few years ago, for people with a card and no floppy interface card. I'll dig it out and upload it in case someone finds it helpful.

Quick Survey: What version of Dos for XT machines?

MSDOS 6.22 and/or DRDOS on all my machines regardless of age, because I enjoy pushing old tech to the limits of what it can do, like multitasking with dosshell or taskmgr, HMA/UMB on XT machines, and utilities like ETHERDFS and ETHFLOP.

    Preserving 386 PC long term

Also, power supplies often have large amounts of old yellow glue and adhesive all over them, holding capacitors in place for whatever reason. It's a frequent reaction to think your PSU capacitors have suffered some ungodly level of leakage when its' actually just some old epoxy or some sort...

    Preserving 386 PC long term

If the guy has no real soldering skills he runs a pretty high chance of lifting one or more traces and potentially ruining the motherboard beyond his capabilities to repair. He should have been talked out of replacing those capacitors himself. The funny part is that the capacitors he wanted to...

    Preserving 386 PC long term

You can see the dark leads in this area, and the round splotchy areas on the motherboard traces near the bottom left corner. This is what will kill this PC, not the capacitors, so start here and remove that battery asap!

    Preserving 386 PC long term

It's not so odd a request, I made a very similar one when I first started back into vintage computing. People spend a lot of money and/or effort time refurbishing their dad's vintage car/mom's cast iron cookware/whatever, why would this be any different to us old tech nerds? It does seem like...

    Preserving 386 PC long term

If you're really worried about the PSU going out and frying motherboard (which happened to me on a 486 VLB motherboard) that old 386 might be able to run off a PicoPSU + ATX to AT adapter. think the largest picopsu can provide up to 10 amps on 5v rail. The chances that you ruin the system by...

Basic Sound card for DOS 6.22/Win3.11/WIN9x

I think the general consensus is that FM on ES1868 is pretty darn good, but to each their own! ES1868 cards are cheap and everywhere and highly compatible up to SBPRO, no hanging notes bug, and generally work perfectly with SOFTMPU if you're looking for intelligent MPU401 compatibility. If you...

Chinese 8088-based laptop system with pirated 8088 BIOS

I like the device and it's quite a neat little toy, especially with the ISA expansion bus. BUT, I would probably enjoy one of those nice aluminum 7" windows 10 laptops that are all over Aliexpress (running Dosbox) a little bit more...
