Buffalo XL printer buffer - 1980s/1990s DIP switch documentation needed

Some archived webpages... https://web.archive.org/web/19970715011404/http://www.melcoinc.co.jp/product/pn/turboj.html - the only place I could find that talks about their print buffers Product Root page: https://web.archive.org/web/19980117043211/http://www.melcoinc.co.jp/product/98pri.html...

Buffalo XL printer buffer - 1980s/1990s DIP switch documentation needed

Looking for any documentation on these: https://archive.org/details/buffalo-paperwork/ I was able to scan what I had from a Computer Reset NIB unit (Buffalo XL), but there was no DIP switch reference. I did take a picture of the DIP switches as they exist and put the JPG in the Archive page...

8 bit IDE (XTA) Replacement Project

@CallinElvis - If you get one of these going for a Tandy 1000 RLXB or Tandy 1000 TL/2, I'd be more than happy to test them and/or help with materials cost, testing, etc. Please let me know. Those are the two systems I have that currently use those XTA drives.

Can someone tell me why my TANDY 1110HD computer will not power on?

I haven't seen the close up pics of the HD's motherboard - only the 1100FD and the BP150, so I was under the assumption they were just using the short ISA bus on the FD as an XTA (8 bit IDE) drive. It'd be great if someone could post comparison pictures. The 1110HD sounds like it didn't have a...

Can someone tell me why my TANDY 1110HD computer will not power on?

I know this is an old quote, but no - the 1100 is a Panasonic/Matsushita made laptop, the 1000 is a desktop. Nobody has yet released the 1100 schematics (or allowed them to be scanned), and we are still awaiting for them to pop up. The 1100HD and 1100FD are the same machine except for the IDE...

    Tandy 1000 RLX and XT-IDE V3

Sweet, thanks for finding that. This made it full circle for me as the OP. :) I wonder what is different about the ROM drive in this unit that causes these issues? My only issue with workarounds is the ROM based stuff for Deskmate. If there's a way to duplicate that and still disable the ROM...

8 bit IDE (XTA) Replacement Project

@CallinElvis Has anyone tried these in an 1100Hd or 1000TL/2 yet? Would love to buy a couple from you if so to get them going in those systems.

Tandy 2500 SX/20 and Tandy 4825 SX restoration thread

Hey c64manguy - do you have images of all the original disks? Is there any way you can upload them to archive.org? It's be great to have all the OEM images somewhere.

DuPAL construction - has anyone made one?

Hey, everyone! Has anyone attempted to make a DuPAL to reverse engineer PALs? I've got one built - and am pulling my hair out trying to get it programmed. I've tried reaching out on the Arduino forums (and not getting much help there yet - they wanted schematics and everything first), but...

Zebra stripes for LCD - help/advice wanted

I have some TI CC-40 systems that seem to have bad Zebra stripes. Or at least, that’s what I figure. I can get parts of the LCD pixels that are missing by gently pressing down on the bezel. I’ve tried cleaning the stripes and LCD with alcohol - no dice. I think the stripes just might be...

8 bit IDE (XTA) Replacement Project

I have three systems that have XTA - the RLX/B is one of them, followed by the TL/2 and my 1100HD laptop. The hard drives are actually still working in the RLX/B and TL/2, but not in the 1100.

Tandy 1000 SL vs SL/2 differences

At the end of the day, when expanded, there's literally zero difference between the two. Both can have one 3.5 and one 5.25 and both can have 640K. Both have the same processor, etc.

8 bit IDE (XTA) Replacement Project

I can't wait to try one of these in my Tandy 1000 TL and RL/RLX series. Maybe also my 1100HD Laptop. :)

Issues getting turbo LED display to work with a 386

If you look at post #4 above, you will see the actual Turbo LED+Speed LED assembly. The actual Turbo LED cable from the motherboard is plugged into where it says "TURBO" on the top left of the assembly. The motherboard (link in post #3) simply states that it supplies a + and a - on the Turbo...

Issues getting turbo LED display to work with a 386

I don’t think I’m communicating correctly. I’m talking about the turbo LED, which is hooked up to the PCB for the speed LEDs. The only connector to the motherboard is that three pin connector. With the first two pins hooked up to the motherboard, the board shows the turbo LED ON with the...

Issues getting turbo LED display to work with a 386

I tried that - all swapping the three pin connectors does is change it to where the button has to be pressed OUT to be turbo and in to be regular speed, which is also backward.
