Ok, my Gotek arrived and it already has the latest FlashFloppy installed. Had a few issues using the USB stick I had selected. I think it was due to it was formatted for Linux use and not formatted FAT32. Finally fixed that. One other USB stick I had would not allow me to format and I stuck...
I decided to start my own thread on this instead of tack onto the other one that is different than my problem. I have a dis-functional Rainbow PSU. As far as I can tell the Decmate II and Rainbow use the same supply as I took the one from the Rainbow and put it into the Decmate and it works...
I have a 133Mhz Gateway-2000 that I already have FreeDOS on. It runs fine. I am not attempting to put an older version of Slackware on another drive so I can create some SCSI images for something else. I downloaded version 12 I believe. Burned the CD. It boots on the Gateway just fine...
I am going to post this here as it has to do with my pdp-11/84. I have an older SCSI2SD board (green v3.0). It works fine with the 5.0 firmware. Yet, I can't seem to get it to save new settings.
I have not played with this in some time, so have likely forgotten how. I tried some things, but...
I have recently gotten my hands on a Kaypro 2x. I believe both floppies are Ok. But the floppy that came with it does not appear to be bootable and may just be blank.
I have setup Image Disk on my Gateway 2000 and I have borrowed the A drive from the Kaypro and stuck in there. It is seen by...
Is there a preferred way to pack 8" floppies for shipping. Are they susceptible to x-rays or the like? I would like to believe these were pre-formatted, but have no way to guarantee this. I just want to make sure they arrive in the condition they are now. I have never shipped a floppy disk...
I have some NAS replacement drives I bought many years back in case one of mine died. I did have one die but it was replaced under warranty. It's likely one of the spares I hat sitting on a shelf. These are likely hitting the 4 or 5 year age. I am curious if there is much information on if...
This may not sound vintage. But this question is based on a Monopoly game program I printed 40+ years ago. So kind of vintage. :)
I printed BASIC code for a Monopoly game long ago (40+ years) from I believe an HP Time Shared Basic system that we had a remote terminal for at the local...
Was there ever any BBS software written to run on DEC hardware? I have been trying to find something, but it seems the best I can find is something that was developed for UNIX and might run on BSD 2.9. I have a DEC Pro-350 that has RT-11M on it. Was wondering if there might be something that...
Just curious if I could temporarily swap my Decmate II over to the Rainbow to see that it does indeed work. The Rainbow works fine. Unless there is something wrong with the mainboard on the Decmate that could damage something on the Rainbow.
A good friend gave me a Decmate II some time back. I have never gotten it to work. Swapped in a known good floppy drive. Nothing. I know the HD is faulty.
It either does not spin up at all or spins up then back down. Disconnected it thinking maybe it would force it to go to the floppy...
I no longer have this system, but it was fun to work on and get parts working. It had a bit 6 problem on the external bus which
causes the write portion to fail. Never did find the cause. But I always enjoyed watching blinking lights so I hope some others
enjoy it too...
A good friend gave me a Decmate II awhile back. Appears the HD has gone bad. Been fiddling with it off and on to see if I could get it
to boot from the floppy drive. Disconnected the HD and once every so often the "Decmate II" screen shows up on the monitor. Thought
maybe having the HD...
I have a pdp-11/84 with a UC17 in it. I have not used it in some time as it's heavy and my
back complains when I try to lift it. I did not use it at all when I lived in Colorado. Now
that I am in Texas I have it on a furniture dolly to move it around. It boots just fine.
I can even boot BSD...
I am curios if anyone on here has tried the Simh and simulated 11/70 panel that Jörg Hoppe posted about on Classiccmp. He seems to have
a Windows and Linux version. I am trying it on a Mac. The Java panelsim works just fine as is. I had to modify parts of simh as he did
but I have a newer...
Well, so far I have only seen my vt-510 appears to have been damaged
in shipment. Nothing else and I have unpack most. Probably my fault
for not having enough padding on top. The on button seemed to have
gotten jammed. It no longer powers on, but could be the fuse inside.
I haven't yet found...
Once again I am on the move. 3rd time in less than 5 years. This time to the Boulder area.
Any DEC people from that area? Wish someone close to me here could take some cables and
stuff I have. The less I pack the better. No I am not getting rid of my 11/84 nor RA92.
Cables are SMD type...
I was finally able to get BSD 2.11 to boot on my 11/84 after re-reading old posts
from myself and replies from many. I had forgotten that the UC17 has to be told
what is connected to it. I thought I had it terminated wrong. I still have some
configuring to do to get networking fully working...
