Why do you do this? (retro-coding)

Understandable because I see it all too often on the system I use with the idea of use something with more memory, more speed to produce a commercial style product. I've also seen Atari 8-bit systems with new variations of BASIC to produce some stunning stuff in 10 Lines of BASIC, which...

Why do you do this? (retro-coding)

If you need a job which forefills a sense of completion, then any form of programming regardless of system will untimately offer that, especially if you're in a job which doesn't offer a light at the end.

    Name that BASIC..

Quite interesting how PowerBASIC started off as BASIC/Z, it was extended to become Turbo BASIC for MS-DOS/PC-DOS, which Borland brought in 1987, though by 1989, Bob Zale brought it back and relabelled it as PowerBASIC and setup PowerBASIC Inc. I just remember coming across it in the late 90s...

Any one have a BASIC interpreter written in C ?

"Palo Alto Tiny Basic" was written in Assembly though (Intel's 8080). Originally published in Dr Dobb's May 1976, the article is on archive, though all bounded together with the other editions from 1976 (page 129) of the archive, p.12. I tried understanding the code for my own BASIC language...

    CGA 160x100x16 bidirectional scrolling

It doesn't sound highly optimized if a single sprite 14x23 is pushing a 8088 to it's limited in LOW-RES. My Amstrad runs at 4Mhz, there's no hardware sprites with a Z80A processor (same as Gameboy), LOW-RES at 160x200. Are you drawing the Sprite from Pixel or using Bytes to Mask the Sprite?

    How can this be relocated?

It sounds as if the question automatically appears when a disk system is automatically detected, I wonder if its possible to still use the disk operating system though disable the detection thing in order to disable the question. There maybe information about it in an disk operating system...

    How can this be relocated?

I'm not sure I can answer your questions correctly, I did a Google Search relating to the 'Number of Files?' on a NEC PC based system and found this page: https://archive.org/details/Neo_Kobe_NEC_PC-6001_2016-02-25 In some plain text below the Manual Image. According to that when a Disk Drive...

    How can this be relocated?

Sorry I'm a bit confused because I'm not familiar with the OS the NEC uses. :( Earlier when you said that you have 0x8400 to 0xD9FF available, I thought if it were possible to load the second file somewhere in that area, the LDIR could be used to MOVE it to 0xC400-0xDFFF area, though if other...

    How can this be relocated?

If it's a Z80 Compatable system, I'm just wondering if it's got something like LDIR or LDDR? That's what I'd do on my system, so you can load the file somewhere else from Disk and use something like this: LD HL,&<address of the code> LD DE,&<where it needs to go> LD BC,&<the length of it> LDIR RET

American TV shows with automated Computer Screens rolling out Text

It's been a while since I've seen it, though they start off focusing on the number of clicks going over the bridge and they use some software to simulate the spacing of the clicks, they eliminated other Bridges based on if any Fog Horn was heared. I could be mistaken about any inaccuracies which...

That sounds like Sneakers when Robert Redford was taken to a Mystery place to talk with Ben Kingsley. The Blind Guy whose part of their crew gets Robert Redford to describe everything he heard from the boot of the car. There would have to be some technical inconsistencies in that movie though.

American TV shows with automated Computer Screens rolling out Text

Yeah I know those ones too. I always remember a particular episode of Law & Order:SVU where they were trying to get Robin Williams on one of those. I don't know when those Zoom and Enhance things started, but it was being played around with in 'Blade Runner'. There's an interesting website...

American TV shows with automated Computer Screens rolling out Text

I tried asking Google this, but all I got was the problem CRT had in relation to Screen Burn, which didn't answer my problem question. It relates to a number of American TV shows, I can't remember which network, I call it the NCIS Network because the NCIS franchise of shows have it and I also...

Well I don't know how the Location tag for me got through, when the 'Back of Burke' is an Aussie expression meaning 'the Middle of Nowhere' and I haven't even spelt "Guday" correctly, which should be "G'day". 😆

Why does the colour map move on the VIC-20?

I can't be certain, but I think this has something to do with additional Memory is added to the VIC the memory map shifts. I vagerly reading about it somewhere, Anders Carlsson (carlsson) probably told me this, though he doesn't come by here anymore, but maybe a PM might change all that...

The move to the new Xenforo forums is slated to happen Dec. 24 - Dec. 26

One of the traps I've noticed is if Google is used to bring up the Forum, the old site comes up as the primary site. I imagine that Erik is still in charge of the old site and he hasn't had the time to take it down?
