You can use the command volcheck to look for new media but IDK if it works on cdrom. Does PiSCSI not send the media changed message when you change the file?

You could try using wireshark to figure out what CUPS is doing that SunOS is not.

About a year ago I saw on ebay some floppies that were labeled as being a BASIC interpreter for SunOS made by a company that had a name that looked like IMSAI but I think my memory is wrong on that. Unfortunately I didn't get the disks and who ever did get them doesn't seem to have uploaded them...
