    Restoring Micronics 09-00066-52 386/33 MoBo

Thank you for all the advice. This board will prove difficult to repair because it is multi-layered. Some traces seem to go nowhere - do you think you could offer an explanation for that? I will include the before photo and then the photo with the traces outlined that I think go nowhere. Thanks...

    Restoring Micronics 09-00066-52 386/33 MoBo

Hi all, Hoping you are well. I really want to get this 33 mHz Micronics motherboard working again. When I got it, the VARTA battery had leaked, and there was corrosion surrounding it. I let the corroded part of the board sit in vinegar, then rinsed with warm water and let it dry. I still get no...

    Help! Micronics/Gateway 2000 486 Motherboard Mysteriously Dies

Hi @twolazy, I'm sorry for the late reply, life has just got in the way of my work on vintage computers. Hi @modem7, Sorry for the late reply - life got in the way of my vintage computer repairs. Help! Micronics/Gateway 2000 486 Motherboard Mysteriously Dies

Alright, not giving up yet: I installed the latest BIOS I could find for this board, and now I get a definitive beep code, with no video. The BIOS is PhoenixBIOS 4.05.05, and the code I get is 1-4-2-1. Looking it up, this says “CMOS RAM read/write failure (this commonly indicates a problem on...

Need Help Identifying Cyrix MediaGX Motherboard and using ATX Power

Hi, I was told there were resistors near the power connector but I don’t see any either. Was just seeing if maybe you saw something I was missing. Good eye on that trace! However, I looked up another picture of this board and it has the same hole. It’s perfectly round - so I think it’s...

Need Help Identifying Cyrix MediaGX Motherboard and using ATX Power

    Help! Micronics/Gateway 2000 486 Motherboard Mysteriously Dies

Wow, thanks so much for the great reply! I will try both of these things over the next couple days and report back. I want to try the CRC CO contact cleaner first. Which IC’s did you notice that might be the culprit? Should I just try and clean all the socketed ones? Again, thanks so much!
