Recently I noticed the date when the PDP-8/E was introduced. It was 1970 August 25.-28. at the Western Electronic Show And Convention Los Angeles (WESCON). DEC showed the PDP-8/E with the new OMNIBUS design. This was a big advantage for the PDP development, offering other companies an easy way to develop options for the PDP-8/E. Also less costs, not needing the wirewrap backplane. The cards had a denser chip layout, so the PDP-8/E had room for many options. Great machine!

So this is 50 years ago! To celebrate this I made a small birthday film:

If you like to read some words from Remo Vogelsang, the leader of the PDP-8/E development team, you maybe have a look here (in German language)

Have fun and keep the old iron running!

Awesome! This made my day. If you meet Remo, give him all our regards. A wonderful achievement. My only complaint would be that there were no harmonies in the Happy Birthday tune. :hbd2:
