65F02 Is a 100 MHz Drop-In Replacement for Vintage 8-Bit Computers

I think the 68008 came out some time after the IBM PC was introduced, so a little late. I wonder if they would have been picked over the 8088 if they had the choice...
 
Motorola couldn't even produce the 68008 in volume until 1984 which rather hampered the Sinclair QL. Motorola also cut the price of the full 68000 so the 68008 lost its main advantage.
