8 bit IDE (XTA) Replacement Project

Hi @CallinElvis - I stumbled onto this forum and post after recently acquiring a Commodore PC20 with a dead HDD and searching for ZuluSCSI type equivalents for XTA. I'd love to purchase an XTA2SD. Thanks!

Mike

Hi! Just came here because I've been trying to get an old T1200XE working. After a 12month odyssee with the PSU board which resulted in somebody here making a whole new PCB from scratch I find myself at the failing to boot stage. The HDD is toast from what I can see. It has several head crash marks on the platters and the heads were stuck initially. I freed them up but it still won't boot. It just shuts down when the laptop tries to access it.
So, Apparently the Conner CP-2024 is an old XTA drive?
How do I get hold of one of these XTA2SD boards to get the laptop booting again? All help appreciated!

It is very doubtful Conner CP-2024 to be an XTA drive, it is a 16-bit IDE drive. You don't need an XTA adapter of any kind.

Thank you very much for this!
I looked into it and you're right. I will look for other drives now.

The conner CP2024 can be work as XT ( 8bit ) or AT ( 16bit ) , see connector enclosed. If PIN 44 is grounded it works as XT.

Correct. The confusion is due to all sorts of idiоts that are publishing only tiny scraps of the original hardly available docs as if they are smarter than the product creators in order to censor their work.

I just got a Tandy 1110HD with a working drive in it (for now. I assume its gaskets will turn to liquid as I click the "post reply" button.) I'd like to replace its drive with one of the xta2sd cards. @CallinElvis I don't have enough forum cred to be able to PM you but if you PM me I should be able to reply, if you have one available. I've been following this thread for a while, I'm a fan of the Tandy 1100FD, this is my first attempt to work on a 1110HD.

Thanks! I'm so glad this thread is still active. I first found it during the pandemic.

I scored one with a working drive too. It worked just long enough for me to copy off everything of it, then died forever.
