I am proud to present my complete collection of free .d64 game disk modules to Stuart Smith's Adventure Construction Set (ACS).

ACS does not create standalone game discs to play custom-designed RPG adventures, you have to load ACS from the Electronic Arts game disk and then "swap disks" of the .d64 game files to play. You'll have to figure out how to do this on your favorite Commodore emulator, I use CCS64 for ACS as it has a x5 turbo mode, which ACS needs at times!

It occurred to me that I may be the only person in 2024 actually playing Adventure Construction Set. To remedy this, I have made a series of tutorials on play and game design on the Commodore 64 version of Adventure Construction Set by Stuart Smith:

Adventure Construction Set tutorials 1-5:

ACS1 - Why Adventure Construction Set matters

ACS2 - How to play Adventure Construction Set

ACS3 - Constructing adventures on Adventure Construction Set

ACS4 - Secrets of Adventure Construction Set

ACS5 - In-depth on standalone game: The Blood Sword

ACS6 - Electric Gate

These tutorials are on ACS gameplay, construction of your own adventures, and tricks and secrets I learned while making my own Hong Kong kung fu style adventures in the ACS system.

Enjoy, and I hope others try this classic game system as I have enjoyed it for many years.

You are welcome. The strategy required is something I have not experienced elsewhere on the Commodore 64.

Just checking that the mediafire link still works.

I have a slightly larger download from 2022 that includes the CCS64 shareware emulator. It's just the one I tested with my ACS modules, and some screenshots included.

Hi there @Baber64, I found this thread when Googling for ACS modules. I do Youtube streams just for the fun of it, including a once a week retro gaming stream. This week I had a lot of fun streaming Rivers of Light, revisiting ACS from my youth. I'm a little less patient about the slow pace and load times of ACS, but bumping up my emulator's CPU speed helped mitigate that problem. Anyway, I thought I'd search for ACS modules and here I am. Thank you for sharing these! Is there any particular one you recommend? Also do you know if there are any other archives of ACS modules out there?

Much appreciated!

Hi Neon!

I'm so glad to get feedback on these, I thought I was the only one playing ACS in 2025.

Yes, I use CCS64 which is clunky in some ways but has a x5 speed mode which really helps ACS. The only drawback is that I'll have different music themes play and they don't sound good at x5.

Vice should work fine but I have yet to practice with their turbo speed mode very much.

I made 13 games out of ACS and they can be played in any order. On my sets, Jadeworld 1a would be the place to start for a new character. Make sure they have at least 15 dexterity though. All advancement is tough without the ability to parry blows and hit the enemy.

Thanks again!
