I've picked up a lovely PS/2 P70 luggable 386. I say lovely, but it is micro channel. With that said, it came to me with display adapter oddities. 80x25 text mode (03h, I believe) worked fine. Text UI programs did not work fine -- I don't know the mode, unfortunately. I was preparing to shoot video when all video stopped working. The plasma display was perfect -- I don't think that's the problem. I am now greeted with the one long, two short beep sequence.
Being my first MCA machine, I have no video adapter options to try. To add to the troubles, the floppy was dead, and I was in the process of re-capping it - got the sense board done, was moving onto the motor board. I'd appreciate advice on how to proceed. The MCA video adapter looks heavy on VLSI plus some relatively common RAM. Unless the RAM is faulty, I'll either have to get lucky with a replacement video board or find another similar MCA video adapter that used the same parts.
