Amstrad PCW software Archive?

Hmm?

This archive file may be damaged, or not what you're expecting.

I've just downloaded it, and I get - eventually - a file of the expected size.

I used jzip to check what;s there, and I see three folders, one called 'Books' which seems to be about 6 files that appear to be documents - Books - relating to the PCW/CPm/programming which could be relevant, but these are not of immediate use to me and seem to be well less than 1Gb.

The second folder seems to be a single application (program) I guess to assist with the reading of the document files.

The third folder is called Emulators and seems to contain a file etc re an emulator, I think CP/M-Box.

Total size still well less that 1 Gb.

Maybe there is other material there, but not showing? Maybe the fill archive file IS damaged.

I've also got a copy of WINRAR, I tried to use this on the archive, and this did try to open it but reported that the archive is damaged, 'finished early'?

The system used refers being able to stop/restart the d/l, this seems not to work. Or maybe what happened as the file was being uploaded exceeded the spec?

I was afraid of that. It's supposed to be able to restart a failed upload, but obviously it didn't manage a clean rejoin at the break. I'll try again, but I'm not sure the WiFi card in this computer can cope with the load.

John,
It downloaded for me. I am copying it to my PCloud account (4.8GB).

I stumbled on more Amstrad PCW files at the following URL's:

If you have an Ethernet Port on your Computer use a Patch Cable for Uploads/Downloads,
as that provides for 115K rate versus 57K for Wifi Connections.

Not working for me. Probably the bandwidth here in Alps Region is too low... :cautious:
Thanks anyway...

Oh, I've got an Ethernet port on my computer, but I don't think my other half would stand for my drilling a hole through the floor to reach the router in the room below, or running patch leads where she's likely to trip over them 😆
