I'm thinking about refreshing some old laptop batteries by carefully taking them apart, seeing what cells they are, getting them from CPC or RS Components etc. and then having a got at replacing them myself.

I dont have spot welder but have seen things like this on Amazon:

Battery Spot Welder

Are these sort any good or is there a better one you guys can recommend?

Hi, this one is too weak. Have bought it to repair all kind of akkupacks. Does not work for 18650 cells.

I've got quite a few CMOS batteries that I need to replace and I usually do it like this: https://www.retrocomputing.co.uk/2019/03/how-to-replace-cmos-battery-on-compaq_12.html

I'd love to do it properly using a spot welder but there are so many to choose from I don't want to buy one and it's not up to the job so was hoping someone would already be doing this sort of thing and recommend a particular one or at least certain specifications to get?

Really thorough exploration of the options, but with a focus on larger and higher amperage packs than you would likely be working with:

Something like the SEQURE SQ-SW2 sounds like the thing I am after, just need to find where I can get one from or a similar alternative!

In case it assists:
Yesterday, I used my spot welder on six 10-amp 18650's. My spot welder is pictured below, something that I purchased about three years ago.
