hey all, i am once again working on the p/390 and have been spinning my wheels for the last day or so trying to figure out what is necessary to connect to the card under warp 4. i seem to recall that last time i just replaced all of the aws3274 instances with lan3274 instances, but this is not working for mvs; when i ipl the console connected to 127.0.0.1:3270 (my chosen lan3274 port) does not become active, and ipl fails with a missing master console error. this happens with the local terminals configured as both LOCAL and LAN. i know that under warp 3 cm/2 is used to provide local master/tso console access, but in warp 4 this seems to have been phased out in favor of the TCP/IP connection manager, which has a different configuration process that i cannot reverse engineer. the documentation i have seen indicates that pcomm was supposed to eventually be updated with the ability to directly connect to an aws3274 device, but this functionality seems to be absent in 4.x. does anyone know what configuration is required for either cm or pcomm, or should i just go back to warp 3?

Its a long time since I played with my P/390 but it did just have PCOMM on it. I seem to remember is when you install PCOMM 4.X it should upgrade the TCP/IP connection manager.
So you install PCOMM then re-run MPTS.

The README.MPT file in the "OS2\INSTALL\MPTS" folder on the PCOM CD has some info, as does Chapter 14 of the New User Cookbook. If you don't have it there is a copy on my OneDrive

I think you are supposed to have 4.4 but the latest version of PCOMM I have is 4.3 but I am not sure these ISOs are complete...

pcomms43

actually looking at the P390 FAQ it says 4.2 is the supported version...

PCOMMS42

let me know how you get on...
.. note the P390 e-mail list was active until recently. can't find the address at this moment in time. I'll try and fish it out later

i think this is EXACTLY the manual i've been trying to find, thank you! i'll report back later today when i've had a chance to run through things :)

that document filled in the necessary gaps perfectly and i was able to get the system up and running. happy to finally be done with this ordeal, thank you again for the support!

for anyone else who has issues with a p/390 under warp 4, i've documented the steps i took to get it working here: https://wiki.rsx11m.io/doku.php?id=ibm:mainframe:p390_setup

i'll be updating it later when i have a clearer head so sorry if it's a little braindumpy right now. :)
