CASIO FP-1100 and FP-1000

Attached are 6 games typed from PiO magazine:

THE FARMER (pio-1984-09)
FORWARD (pio-1985-02)
PROJECT X (pio-1985-04)
SELGA (pio-1986-03)
DRIVING (pio-1986-04)
ULTAN (pio-1986-04)

Of these, the first 3 games work in Takeda's eFP-1100 emulator, and the last 3 do not!?

It would be nice if someone with an actual machine could verify if that these last 3 typed games actually work on an actual FP-1100 machine, because if they do then we can safely say that the problem is with the eFP-1100 emulator. (thanks)

Cheers

And here are a few more newly typed games from PiO magazine:

CHECKER (pio-1985-09)
SNAKE PLANET (pio-1983-vol.1)
SUFFOCATION (pio-1984-11)
TRAFFIC CONTROL (pio-1984-10)
TURNER (pio-1985-11)

Of the above, only Snake Planet and Traffic Control work in the eFP1100 emulator.

Suffocation (pic.1) shows some signs that it would work but has a problem with the graphics (pic. 2) and has no reaction to key presses from the keyboard, while Checker and Turner do not work at all in the eFP1100 emulator.

If there is anyone who could test the same on their actual FP-1100 computer, please contact me via direct channel.

Cheers

Yes of course, but wouldn't it be a good idea to test them on a real machine first, otherwise it remains unknown whether they work!?

PS. Check the direct message!

EDIT: Just to add that I would love to see the MAME fp1100 driver finally work one day. And that hope gives me motivation when typing games from magazines for it.
Otherwise, it's a pretty interesting machine that I think deserves better treatment than it's getting now.

Cheers

Thanks for info. I know retrowiki forum and see that thread, can try ask about it on that thread. Now I had two manuals (Reference and User Manual) but I try to find Service Manual with schematics and some info about dual disk drive FP-1024FD2 unit and their controller.
Hi Tomeu,

There are some ROM file dumps of the floppy disk drive unit available here :

--> Click on the EPROM keyword at the top to download the files.
Hope this will help.

Hi @CasioFP, nice to see you on the forum again.

As you probably noticed, I typed in a few games from magazines that I think could be interesting for testing emulators and in general.

Mostly, these are programs that use machine code, because it is easier to enter a program in machine code where you just check if the checksums are correct than programs in Basic that need to be analyzed in detail to see if everything is entered correctly.

However, some programs do not want to run in the emulator at all even though their checksums are correct, or if they do, they show some errors, so it would be a good idea to check them on a real FP-1100 computer how they behave there to eliminate the suspicion that something is wrong.

In case you still have an FP-1100 that is in working condition and would like to participate in the testing, please contact me. All programs are in .wav format so they are easy to import to a real computer, for example using a cable connected to a laptop running Audacity, or some similar method.

Regards

Hi @alexsal,

Thanks for the welcome :)
I saw your posts, but have only tried them on Toshida Takeya's emulator and stumbled on the same errors as you did.
I am planning to setting up my FP-1100 next week or so, I will then be able to check them out on real hardware.

Takeya's emulator quality / accuracy has been kind of irregular at times however, and used to fluctuate greatly between versions.
The version I am using is timestamped Dec. 27th, 2017 in case it could matter.
I haven't been able to locate a recent downloadable binary archive to check if there was a more recent version, however.

Regards

I'll list a few more FP-1100 games that can be found in PiO magazines:

7 CARD GAME (pio-1985-05)
BASEBALL GAME (pio-1983-vol.2)
BRAVE CAR (pio-1985-10)
FORWARD 2 (pio-1985-08)
HANAFUDA (pio-1986-07)
HEBI HEBI (pio-1984-12)

Since these are games with a long part of the Basic program, I am not interested in typing them out, so I am just showing them here so that they are known to exist, in case someone else is interested.

And those games mentioned earlier were entered using the ProgramListOCR and DumpListEditor programs, without which this would not have been possible, so kudos to the author for the program and the idea for it.

Now, whether these programs that are currently not working in the emulator need to be tested on a real machine or not, let someone smarter decide, because my part regarding the FP-1100 research ends here.

Cheers

Hi @CasioFP,

Your post #27 just appeared now... probably due to the delay due to the small number of your posts.

Regarding testing the typed-in games on a real FP-1100 that would be great if possible. (with yt-video maybe, but you decide)

As far as I know the latest download is Binary Archive (1/1/2026)! (search a little further down and you'll find it but I don't think it's any different from the one you tested)

PS. Check the direct message for the other set of programs!

Regards

You are right, since I have less than 10 posts there is a day/day and a half delay before my post appears...

I will try your WAV files in a few days and report back !
