Compaq Portable 386 CMOS Battery

Anyone happen to know what the deal is with the CMOS battery on the Compaq Portable 386?

I took the back cover and metal cages off but no sign of the battery. I’m guessing it’s under the motherboard? I don’t really want to remove the mobo but I suppose I may at some point if need be.

According to 'Chapter 8.28 Battery' of the Maintenance and Service Guide for the Portable 386, the system board needs to be removed to get at the battery.

Thanks -- that connector is what I suspected was the battery cable. There's a twisted cable that goes from the connector then under the system board.
