Compaq VGA ISA card conflicts with all IDE controllers

Folks, does anyone have experience with early Compaq VGA card from 1987 with PVGA1A chip?

It works, but if it's in the system, IDE controller doesn't work. I checked with Compaq multi-io card in a Deskpro 286 and with XT-IDE controller on a generic 286 motherboard.

I suspect this is because it uses IRQ 14. There are no jumpers to disable IRQ.

Anyone have any experience with this card or any PVGA1A cards?

All other VGA cards I have work just fine with IDE controllers.

Here is the back of the card, and D7 is not connected. So it's not IRQ 14 then? What else can conflict with IDE? Can BIOSes clash somehow?

Seems jumper W2 says "BIOS". Did you try changing its position? Might be worth a try and see what happens.

Thanks Timo, switching bios access from 16-bit to 8-bit fixed the issue with IDE. I now have Deskpro 286 model 2550 with a very slow original Compaq VGA and I'm very happy ;)

BTW: picture on LCD monitor is very good, no vertical bars like with many Realtek and Trident cards.
