CP/M board support for DEC Pro/3xx

does it have the split spring thingy holding it together?
AKA "spiral bound" :-}.
So, we do have a complete set of diskettes at both 1.0 and 1.1 levels.
Has anyone checked out this set:

procpm-1.td0

BL-AH67A-BH 12297
PRO-CP/M-80 APPLICATION
DISKETTE DISKETTE SYSTEM V1.1

procpm-2.td0

BL-V448B-BH 12094
PRO-CP/M-80 APPLICATION
DISKETTE HARD DISK SYSTEM V1.1

procpm-3.td0

BL-V447B-BH
Pro-CP/M-80 APP DSKT V1.1
Serial No. CP2-703-22093

Answering my own question: "No, because the three diskette files didn't get archived."

I believe those images are the ones people at the beginning of this thread described as "hopelessly corrupted."
When I just looked at the CP/M diskette itself it was definitely corrupted (the contents of 'DUMP.ASM' have a scrambled block in the middle of them).

The DEC manuals I just finished scanning had "twin loop" binders. If you use an appropriate tool to spread the wires it's definitely possible to remove them. Getting them back together isn't too bad, but it's doubtful they'll ever look like new afterwards. And, yes, they are annoying!

For not too much money you can get one of the copy shops to rebind documents with new wire binding though I don't know who offers wire binding. If memory serves FedEx will do the coil style binding for around $5.

My preference is the plastic comb style binding since it can be removed/installed without special tools.

I had an opportunity to purchase a lightly used wire binding kit at a local Goodwill store and, stupidly, passed on it.

After diagnosing a dead Z80, the Pro/350 CP/M board passes POST test during P/OS 3.2 boot. However, the P/OS installation tool does not recognize any of the diskettes (v1.0 and v1.1) as containing an installable application. And, none of the FILES-11 diskettes are bootable. The native CP/M diskette does appear to have boot tracks, but the Pro/350 throws a floppy system error when I try to start from it. There may be something fundamental I'm not understanding or it may be that all of the diskette images are bad.

Lee Gleason will be loaning me the docs for scanning, but cannot get them out for a bit. In the interim I'm open for suggestions regarding the installation and setup.

Yep, plan to mail the doc I have in the next week or so (got a lot going on right now). But, it's a user's manual - it has a lot of helpful stuff about using CP/M on the Pro, but the only time it mentions installation, it refers you to an installation manual, which I don't have....

Hah, doesn't that figure
:)

It may well be that this package must be installed from one of the maintenance diskettes. I'll keep plugging at it.

Odd. I just tried looking at the diskette image (poscpmah.dsk from the maslin_cpm.zip set) with Xhomer and it shows up fine.
If you do a DIR PROCPM80HV11:[0,0] do you not see anything?

Code:

I never claimed the diskette had no contents. All I know is that the P/OS installation program claims the application on it is not installable. There's probably specific metadata that it's unable to find.

Annnnddd... It was an egregious case of PEBKAC. I forgot that Flashfloppy was configured to present 400k images as Kaypro 10 diskettes unless the token 'rx50' was used in the filename. Once I renamed the images PROCPM80HV11 installed without incident and CP/M booted from the system diskette.

I'm a bit puzzled as to the purpose of the third image: poscpmad_PROCPM80DV11_(BL-AH67A-BH).dsk. This is definitely not an installable application.

So how is CPM? Does it run in a Pro window or does it turn the whole computer into a Kaypro?

I would say it's the latter, but without the real-time "snap". For whatever reason I like to accumulate CP/M and MS-DOS add on boards for as many systems as possible.

I've got a Sun VME board with a 286 on it. Have I found someone who would want such a thing?
