DEC units on ebay

Too late anyway. It sold within minutes. Funny thing was that Dave goofed and meant to have it an auction at that staring price but it ended up being a "Buy It Now" and someone did. Maybe it was someone that knew who assembled it. I don't know. It sure went for a hefty price though.

Pity that you live at the other side of the big pond ... I have a "few", but shipping is not an option.
I can lift one, but I am sure that the postman will say "wáy too heavy".

Well, it’s a lovely system, anyway. I hope to have a PDP or VAX in a BA23 deskside box one day.
Here is one. Not quite as good condition as Dave's was but not bad. Likely a PDP-11/23+ inside but you could ask the seller what boards are in it. A lot of these were upgraded with KDJ11 boards. I put it on a watch list and later got an offer with a good discount. Still more than I can pay.

I'd be curious to know what I could have gotten on eBay for the VAX 4000-705A I assembled from parts over the years and donated to the LSSM.

VAX 4000-705A CPU in pedestal cabinet (immaculate)
512MB (4 * 128MB)
4 * RF73, 2 of which were NIB and had only 36 hours on them.
KZQSA with NOS TL4000 tabletop tape drive, 15 NIB DLT IV tapes, 2 NIB cleaning tapes
KDA50 w/ S-box cabinet kit
Cabinet / fan tray / S-box panels, all with matching model numbers
VAX/VMS V7.3, MultiNet, many layered products installed (including PAKs)

Spare 4705A CPU
Spare 128MB memory (*2)
Spare KZQSA
Spare KDA50
Spare RF73's (full set of 4)
Spare DSSI control panel (*2)
Spare power supply
Spare run/stop / restart switch assembly

All parts (including spares) 100% tested and working.

Anybody want to hazard a guess (just for my amusement, it's been at the LSSM since last August)?

Someone who's not very familiar with ID'ing DEC modules has some eBay listings that may be of interest.

KM8-A M317 Option 2
UNKNOWN BRAND NAME INTERNAL OPTION CIRCUIT BOARD CARD 5051436 5010938D
MM8AB 8K x 12 Core
UNKNOWN BRAND NAME CIRCUIT BOARD CARD 5011016C

Seems like after selling 2.8M items, he'd be able to identify more than "UNKNOWN BRAND NAME CIRCUIT BOARD CARD".
Its a fair price for both cards. I have too many M8317 options 2 boards to ever need anymore. The core board is missing which makes that a spare parts card for the memory. Not sure how you can claim used but good working condition when you don't know what it is and clearly the 8k x 12 bit core memory cant work without the core board.

As Roland wrote previously - here is another poor guy with the '0' key got stuck on his keyboard:

It is either a stuck '0' key or he forgot to make pictures of the rest of the system. US$5500 for an empty 4-slot backplane is insane.

The seller has been trying to sell this for 9 years:

I made an offer of $100 but the seller declined.

It doesn't occupy much space and the seller thinks it is worth a lot of money.

I have found this with some 'commercial' sellers of PDP-8/E parts. The boards containing logic are reasonably priced - but the RFI shield (no logic and a copper plane - as you will know) is ridiculously priced! I suspect people are just pricing things based upon 'perceived rarity' possibly?

In the past, when a listed price has been too high, but not ridiculously high, I've made an offer and in addition to my boilerplate "Thanks for considering my offer!" I've added "You've had this listed for X years without even one offer - can we agree on $X to get it out of your warehouse?" and had the seller accept. For example, I got a NIB CIPCA with the unobtainium TNC breakout cable for $225 that way.

Sometimes sellers need to be convinced that just because something is rare doesn't necessarily mean it's worth anything - a bottle of Abraham Lincoln's urine would be extremely rare, but also worthless.

We're way off the right edge of the bathtub curve for anything made by DEC. Sometimes you have to do the "coin shop trick" - call a coin store and go "I have a 1964 Kennedy half dollar proof coin sealed from the mint - how much would you give me for it?" and they'll tell you "Those are really common, we couldn't give you more than $25 for it. Hang up, wait a bit, call back and go "I'm looking for a sealed 1964 Kennedy half dollar proof coin" and they'll tell you "Those are really rare. We have one, but it'll cost you about $2500". The you go "Yesterday you offered me $25 for the same thing - what's your REAL price?" I had to pull that trick "back in the day" when DEC stuff was still in use, if I was looking for an oddball part like a DT07.

Wow, I did not know a VT05 had a 4 slot backplane in it for the logic cards (yes I know it's not Unibus)

Serial number 21 ??

Well, i am curious how high this will go.
The starting price is a normal one nowadays for a working one.
Puh.. But it has seen better days and a load of cleaning et cetera has to be done.

Found the doc for that SD360 Digital Signal Processor

Whole machine has to be in a science museum.
Its as I read it a mathematical processor with a X-Y Display plotter to do heavy frequency Fourier calculations.

a Time machine in how complex calculations be done with computers.

To me it look like the whole system is legit as made and correct.
Not a put to gather some stuff, but the real deal.

The 11/34 has a big useful job to do in this configuration , instead of, if just taken out, a print DIR job.

That is , if the software can be found of course.
