DEC units on ebay

There is an auction for 4 DEC VR201 terminals, but he has only 1 cable. Oddly enough, there is a guy selling 3 cables in a completely different part of the country.
Anybody have experience with the VR201's? They seem to real problems with a film on the inside of the glass.
I may have an extra cable...

I actually bought a VR201 off of eBay last year and it's in great shape. The problem that you're referring to is cataracts and it's due to the breakdown of the adhesive that attaches the safey glass to the front of the CRT. This is a common problem with all sorts of vintage CRT displays. I was lucky that the adhesive hasn't started breaking down (yet!) on my VR201.

Here's a video on the topic:

I can't say if they are problematic as I have only ever had one, but mine is fine. Maybe it was stored better? Or made during a time when the quality of parts was better?

Please make sure that the CRT's anode is fully discharged to prevent you getting an electric shock which may cause you to drop the CRT or knock it against something causing it to implode.
Please don't use heat on CRTs!
Acetone will soften the PVA glue in a few hours and no heat or force is required.
Please wear gloves, safety glasses and a face shield and clothing which protects eyes and your major blood vessels especially your neck.
Even if your are very careful a small knock against the tube may cause it to implode sending sharp bit of glass towards your body.
Don't do this when nobody is near you to help if needed.

Ok, I just bought the 4 of them off Ebay for a decent price.....
He said he has one cable, and I found 3 more. I plan on bringing them to the Repair Workshop at infoage if they arrive in time.

ok, they showed up, and they will be coming with me to the Repair workshop....
Ha, I will be going right by that PDP for sale for 18 grand on Saturday afternoon on the way from the Repair Workshop if someone wants to buy it and get it hand delivered in Northern New Jersey on Sunday night.../s

Yikes!

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234869969747 $1850 for a PDP-11/35 front panel; missing some keys.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/165889945807 $50 for a PDP-11 programming card

https://www.ebay.com/itm/334638039025 $18,500 for a PDP-11/03 system

These are all BUY-IT-NOW no bids. Have not been on eBay for quite some while, but these are over the top ridiculous.
That PDP-11/35 panel started out much higher. Each re-listing drops a little. It's below what a number of PDP-11/70 panels have gone for but the fact that it's got a couple damaged lever/switches, missing the key switch and who knows what else on the back side keeps it from being worth what they were.

People are weird. There is an AF01 A/D converter up there for 7500 with almost no boards I have one with the a/d converter board and the 64 channel mux cards....

I'd trade it even up for a BM08. Really could use one of those for the 8/L

I've been watching this auction for a little while now.... curious where the rest of the system is...

Actually if you look at the seller's other auctions, theres quite a number of other interesting items... funny enough, a good dozen or so are already on my watch list!! :)

Keyways is a well-known source for DEC-related systems, parts, etc. Had a nice chat with them last year -

There is a guy near Harrisburg PA that is selling a DEC Rainbow in pieces....🤬 I offered to take it off his hands as an entire unit since I was going to be in the area on the weekend of the VCF Repair workshop, but he never responded. Well, today he changed the listing to accepting offers, but still won't sell it as a complete unit...

Well, this is what a more complete AF01 *should* look like. Not sure if all the bits are there, this came from a working pdp12 many many years ago.

Anyone know if the true module layout is anywhere?

ok, this is odd. The monitor cable he is selling as a separate piece is for a 241, but he is selling a VR201 monitor. Does a 241 cable work with a 201 monitor?

Who needs a VT10x / VT220 Terminal??

Check-out this auction (not mine):

The seller does not want to ship these terminals. I wouldn't mind one or two of the VT10x's myself (I'm sure there's lots of other people here looking for one as well)...

There's also a neat DEC GIGI machine (with carrying case) that was recently listed on eBay as well:

I put a few bids in, but someone clearly wants it more than I do!
