Howdy Folks,

I have a new Commodore C64 Ultimate and I wanted to load some .crt files on to an EasyFlash 3 (EF3) to jump start some game play. When I attempt to write the .cft file to the EF3, I run into problems with EasyFlash crashing on the C64 Ultimate side.

Here's my setup:
Windows 11 25H2 Professional PC with the WinUSB v6.1.77000.16385 driver installed
The EF3 tools from skoe.de and Not Done EasyFlash tool pack from (https://ndefpack.sourceforge.net/)
C64 Ultimate Software v3.14
EF3 CPLD Core v1.1.1 and Menu v1.2.0
OneLoad64 v5 (contains .crt files premade from .d64 files)

Ater installing the WinUSB 1.6 driver, my process is:
1. Launch ndefgui.exe
2. Load a couple of .crt files, order them, and rename them for clarity, and save the .crt file.
3. Connect the EF4 mini USB to USB-A cable to the EF3 and my Windows 11 PC. Windows connected to the EF3.
4. Turn on the C64 Ultimate, and confirm it is at the EF3 menu screen
5. Open EasyTransfer.exe 1.2.0 on the PC, and navigate to the Write CRT tab.
6. Select my newly created .crt file, and click Go!. The Send command: EFSTART:CRT is the last thing that appears in the log pane
7. EasyProg v1.7.0 starts on the C64 Ultimate. I press the Return key.
8. EasyProg crashes. Nothing else happens on the PC.

For extra fun, I don't have another C64 to test with. The EasyFlash 3 is a new cart that I purchased from a vendor at VCF East 2025. This the first time I am attempting to use the C64 Ultimate and the EasyFlash 3.

I have added some screen caps to help explain what I'm seeing. Pictures are worth 1,000 words each.

Appreciate the help in advance,
Alan

I don't think EF3 works with the C64U. I thought C64U supports EF3 CRT files internally, though.

EF3, like other advanced carts, takes advantage of very specific nuances on the original 64 exp port signals, which I doubt appear on the C64U.
