Hi, people ! Have a 286-16/2mb ram/IDE HDD/SB with EGA/VGA videocard RUBY_VGA and EGA display. Some games which are supposed to work in EGA mode crash, some work, like Stunts or Test Drive III, some give "junk" of pixels, like Dave series from ID software. First of all I'd like to know "common EGA videocards" 8 bit ones like PARADISE and so on - are they really slow than 16 bit ones like that ruby or OAK ? An are there test programs, for EGA like VGA 3d bench that measures speed on VGA sysyems... ?

There's plenty of software for benchmarking various display adapters: Checkit, Landmark, Topbench, and many others.
Checkit can also be used to test video memory - and this may be your problem.
And yes, 8-bit ISA cards are usually noticeably slower than 16-bit ISA ones.
