Hi,

Someone has offered me an Epson P-40 thermal printer but it has a parallel centronics input, is there anyway of making this work with a PX-8 which only has serial outputs?

Just curious. Do you plan to actually use the P-40 or are you a collector? Be aware that operating a thermal printer on a regular basis may be slightly more expensive than a dot matrix/inkjet/laser. Archiving your printed copy may be a problem in the long run (keep it out of the sun). You can still get a parallel to serial converter cable from 'Black Box". Be aware that parallel interface data is a one way street. However, some parallel printers do support 'nibble mode' that lets the printer talk back to the host.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I'm just collecting and tinkering, I really like the Epson stuff from the 80's. I'm also wondering which systems this P-40 was designed to work with.
