We are beyond excited to introduce the EVO64, the ultimate mainboard replacement for your Commodore 64.

The EVO64 wasn't just built to be a replacement; it was developed to be the ultimate tribute to the Commodore 64. By integrating the most sought-after upgrades—like ClearVideo64 and Dual SID support—into one sleek board, we've made it easier than ever to own a "dream" C64.

It’s fully backward-compatible, supports original MOS chips and modern clones, and is backed by an incredible community of builders.

Looks like a solid all-in-one upgrade, especially with ClearVideo and dual SID onboard. Do you know if it requires any case modifications or fits standard C64 shells without changes?

The EVO64 is designed as a direct 1:1 replacement for the original motherboard. It fits perfectly into standard Commodore 64 shells (both the 'breadbin' and C64C styles) without requiring any cutting or modifications to the case. All ports align exactly with the original factory openings. Take a look at the attached photos to see the EVO64 in action. Are there any performance enhancements or is it only improving output quality? It's going to be hard to compete with the C64 Ultimate.

This is a great question, and it really comes down to two different philosophies.

With the EVO64, you are building an authentic hardware system. You can use original MOS chips and high-end audio options like Dual-SID combined with the NuTube/Triode64 vacuum tube preamps.

On the performance side, the Multi-ROM system gives you instant access to 8 different Kernal ROMs and 4 Basic versions, including JiffyDOS and SpeedDOS for faster loading.

In my opinion, the main difference is that the EVO64 is a DIY (do-it-yourself) system. It gives you the freedom to create a custom machine from scratch using either original MOS chips or modern replacements, whereas the Ultimate 64 is a pre-configured FPGA implementation.

Yes, the NuTube64 and Triode64 are excellent solutions. You can really feel the musicality and depth. Have a quick look and a listen...

Im waiting for the zx-Harlequin-style TTL version!
:)

Seriously though, brilliant project.
