Laplink lists the serial connection as being 1MB per minute while the parallel connection is 3-5 MB per minute. That depends on what type of port are available on both systems. The IBM 5150 with the early parallel port will be a lot slower than a later ECP port but the 5150 will probably get even worse transfer rates of the serial port.

Parallel is fast enough to use a host PC's HDD for systems that do not have a HDD using INTERSVR/LNK with old games.
