Found this nice NOS dec talk card, but search low and high on the web and can't find any software to use it.
Someone knows how or where ?.

Here is a copy of DECtalk PC V4.1. I got this software along with a DTC07 card which looks quite different to the one you have. Hopefully the same software works with your card. Image files for the 3.5" and 5.25" versions are included:

Thank you very much and may god bless you. :) :) :)
I have been looking for this program for months now.
What program do you use to create the images ?.

The .IMD floppy disk images files are created by ImageDisk. You can download ImageDisk 1.18 here:

Does the DECtalk PC V4.1 version linked above actually work with the version of DECtalk card being discussed here? As far as I know there was the original full size ISA bus through hole component version of the DECtalk card, and then later the smaller surface mount component version of the DECtalk card being discussed here, and possibly the newer version of the card is not 100% compatible with the original version.

Without going back and watching the entire LGR video again, was there some point in the video where he said it wasn't too hard to find the original version of the software, but that it wasn't really compatible with the newer card, and then it took him a while to magically find the correct version somewhere? Really fairly annoying if you ask me that he wouldn't mention where he found the software or provide a link to it in the video description. Doesn't make me want to watch any of his other videos.

Thanks for the tip, written the floppy. And have been testing this to get it to work but can't manage to get it to detect the damn card.
The software suggest to choose a base address of 240 choose this address removed all other cards but it don't detect it shit.

And is true i was not familiar to the LGR videos but seems they are more of an entertainment value they will not give you any kind of technical knowledge or help on how to do stuff.

Thanks for posting the individual file zip! I have one of the older boards stored away that was lacking the software. Time to pull it out and try and get running.

The card I have is the same as the one Clint demonstrated in the video. I haven't seen the surface mount version before but I was hoping the software might still be compatible.

Hmm, my memory was incorrect. I thought he had a surface-mount version of the DTC07-B ISA bus board in his video, but it is the original through-hole DTC07-A version as shown starting around 6:25 in the video:

https://youtu.be/bPW2S4fZMJY?t=385

Now I can't remember where I might have seen some information that lead me to believe that the -B version is not 100% software compatible with the -A version.

Here's a zip for the individual files:
I found a newer version of the software online (v4.2) which mentions Windows 95 so maybe that supports the newer cards:

I searched a bit more and found a reference to "www.ultranet.com/~rongemma/tips_upd.htm" from 1996 which was supposed to contain some DECtalk information and software. The Internet Archive has a copy of it here:

web.archive.org/web/19970413134225/http://www.ultranet.com/~rongemma/tips_upd.htm

Some of the files there might be the same as those available on the site you linked above.

Maybe the DTC07-B surface-mount version is the PC2 version. If you download this file from the Internet Archive copy it is a self-extracting .ZIP file (you can rename it to a .ZIP and extract the files that way if can't execute the self-extracting .ZIP file on a 64-bit OS).

DECtalk PC2 DECtalk PC2 V.2CC Install (self-extracting) pc2v42cc.exe (584KB 1/13/97)

In that .ZIP file there is a PLUGPLAY.TXT file which says "DECtalk PC2 (DTC07-BA) Plug and Play Configuration File." at the top of the file. So that leads me to believe that the PC2 version is indeed what you want for the DTC07-B surface-mount version.

I have been watching this listing on eBay for quite a while. I held off on buying one as I wasn't sure the software was easy to find. Might be interesting to buy one now. These don't seem to be all that common.

Hello,
I wonder if somebody managed to let the PC2 card work with software from the wayback machine.
Any feedback?

Thanks
Andrea

Gonna try them now will report back any success.

Any luck on the Dectalk DTC07 on getting it to work? I too have been watching a recent listing of the DTC07 on eBay but have been hoping someone here would figure out how to make it work before I get myself.

How big is the card length/width? I'm wondering if it will fit in a "Compact PC" that can only accept 17 cm wide ISA boards.

FWIW, I found this source of other Dectalk versions from this amazing guy "Snoopi" who not only uses Dectalk as his assisted voice due to his Cerebral Palsy, but has a whole course on how to make the Dectalk sing. He has a bunch of versions of Dectalk along with some samples and language specific files (not sure what they are):

Dectalk Versions:
http://www.theflameofhope.co/dectalk/
  • 5.0
  • 4.3
  • 4.4
  • 4.61
  • 4.64
  • 6.1

And his "course" on Dectalk:

The card is 22 cm long.
Also i can't find any software that make it works, the software i could find will not see the card.
The programs you linked http://www.theflameofhope.co/dectalk/ are all windows programs that runs using software.
If you download them and run them they will work even on windows 10, the have anything to do to the hardware cards.

Finally think I found the "correct" version for the dt07 card:
There are 3 files the correct one is the one called PC2V42C.
The uguide.txt file says:
FCC COMPLIANCE.
FCC ID A09-DTC7B.
That is exactly the FCC-ID printed on the card, check all the other software packages and the UGUIDE.TXT always mentions a specific card so this one must be the correct one.
Then tested this on my card but had no luck tried several pcs, with different i/o addresses but the same error "no module found at explicitly I/O address 250, exiting load."
Removed all PLCC chips and cleaned them and the socket in case they were dirty or corroded but no change.
:(
