How to read discs on a 1541-II drive with ZoomFloppy?

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, but a C64 user since 1985. After many years, I went to read more C64 discs, this time from C64's Easy Script. My 1541 drive had sat too long and was bad, so I acquired another, a 1541-II C64 "tested" drive. And I have it hooked to ZoomFloppy with a C64 CCS64 V3.10 emulator.

The drive looks good in the emulator, and ZoomFloppy in Device Manager is good. But I cannot load EasyScript; it just doesn't do anything. The drive seems to be working as "On" by the emulator & drive's power light. But it will not spin or light the drive's active light.

I wondered whether anybody could help with this? I'd really appreciate it, as may others...

Thank you sincerely for any help!

What you are asking makes no sense. You can't use a real disk drive with CCS64.
What you are describing could be done with VICE, but it is not the best way to accomplish anything.

How do you have it configured in CCS64? I've only used ZoomFloppy-type devices in VICE, which may work better for you anyway.
Thanks for the referral to VICE. I changed the emulators to it. Still haven't gotten very far. I do see, though, now, that besides the power light. The activity light briefly lights up, and as it does, I can hear it start to spin, then those go out, but the power light stays on. So this drive, a 1541-II, seems to be working and not the problem. I'm stumped for the time being. The VICE emulator is set to the default. And I cannot read or load discs from it so far. Thanks for any further help/insights

Unless the disk has some non standard formatting (like copy protection stuff or whatnot) I'd recommend doing an image copy of it to a .d64 and then use the .d64 in your emulator.

By default, VICE assumes you are working with a disk image, not a real disk drive. Under Settings, Peripheral devices, Drive, and Drive 8, what choices do you have for Virtual backend? Does it detect your ZoomFloppy?

I do agree with the others that it is easier to make a disk image and use that, but VICE should work with your setup to run from a real floppy drive (and if that works, then you can definitely create an image of the disk).
