How to test memory?

Looking at the site makes me want in. In the past I've built breadboard testers for single chips. Having one for many chips is a cool idea.
 
I normally test them several at a time until I hit a group with an error. I then test the members of that group individually to determine the bad chip or chips.
 
Yes, I'm doing the same.
I also have some "exotic" chips in my collection, but I don't have a computer to test them with. Maybe I should try a separate tester.
Take a look at what other testers are available, but the link above looks pretty good.
 
Using some of the newer controller chips, one can improve the testing to include timing test to find if you have RAM rated at 250 ns, does it really work at 250 ns. That is difficult with the older Arduino stuff.

That is an interesting tester. Not sure if it would be any help with my need to test cache memory but it would be nice to have around. Are they selling any preassembeled units? Or kits?
 
My memory test involves figuring out where I put my keys... :)
You should get organized a little bit more.

My keys are always dropped into their permanent resting spot the moment I enter. The spot hasn't changed for 15 years. In that time I've never had to look for them even once. :) :)

I always drop my keys on their permanent stop as well but the darn spot keeps moving! LOL!

I asked the developer. He sells the PCBs, no preassembled units or kits. Except the ATmega2560 the tester is quite easy to assemble.

There is a manual and a list of supported SRAMs, DRAMs and ROMs/(E)PROMs on his site.

Thanks for checking. Do you have to contact him directly to order? I did not see an order page or anything like that. The ATmega2560 is going to be an issue for me. I have dabbled in some surface mount soldering but nothing with as many pins as that chip.
 
I am in progress for 4116 Dram tester. Still in testing. To be more specific, i am waiting the first boards to come and do my tests.
It is an Arduino 4116 Dram tester. Have in mind that the board you looking it is not in final design. This is the very early design to do my test’s. After that I do some modifications.

When all seems to work properly I will release the Kicad schematic and the Gerber files for those want to build it.

This is the final design for my Arduino 4116 Dynamic Ram tester. At least for this version. I can’t wait for my first prototype boards to came and start the testing. After that and if all go smoothly i start the printing for this version. 7~12 dc volt barrel jack fitted in this version to power up the board from external power supply and not only through the Arduino usb.

Forgot all existing projects. I have tried them all. This tester can test really everything!
