I've already made a few posts but rudely haven't done an intro yet.
The first computer I ever used was... well, I'm not sure what it was, because I never saw it! In the fourth or fifth grade, my elementary school stuck a spare DECwriter II in a corner, along with a phone, an acoustic coupler modem, and instructions on how to log on to play all those classic BASIC games like Hunt the Wumpus and Star Trek. I assume we were connecting to a DEC PDP-something. That started my love of computers, and I was overjoyed to eventually get a Timex/Sinclair 1000 of my own, and later an Atari 800XL. Both were unceremoniously tossed at some point. (We didn't know what we had back then, did we?)
Well I've since repurchased a Timex/Sinclair 1000, rescued an Apple IIe from a thrift store, and picked up a NABU from that big ebay sale a few years ago. I've also put together a PiDP-8 and have been working (for ages) on a 6502-based homebrew. My current dream acquisitions would anything Heathkit (H8/H89/H11 or H9/H19 terminal), but I'm starting to run out of room and spousal patience, so I'm not holding my breath.
Really though, I just enjoy programming on these vintage platforms, mainly in assembly. Emulation and simulation is very handy these days... I've been especially enjoying writing things for the Apple 1, despite not even having a replica of one. Here's my github: https://github.com/JeffJetton
Happy computing, all!
