I have an idea for adding an additional 3.5in drive to portable PCs with exposed isa/Eisa/pci slots

I had an idea that came to my head whilst doing multi-variable homework, and I couldn't just sit on it. What's stopping you from making a card like a "hard card", but with a floppy drive instead of a hard drive? I searched online for something like it, but Google thought I was looking for floppy controller cards. Couldn't you combine the floppy controller with the floppy drive and put it on an expansion card? This is pretty useless for normal computers that have expansion slots on the back, but for most Portable computers like my 486c, the expansion slots are on the side of the computer and are easily accessible. There seems to be enough space to fit it:

Even if you couldn't plug it directly into the Eisa slot, you could still plug it into the external floppy port.
