I have this 5160 power supply that I would like to use but the fuse inside immediately burns out.
So first thing I would like to check is if the fuse that was inside is the right one; T2.5A, 250V
Could anyone verify ?

Also, are there are parts that are known to fail ?

Ow, ps, not an electronics person so be gentle ;)

Seems like a reasonable value for the fuse. I tried to find some info on that but was unable to find anything specific. Capacitors often fail in power supplies so those should be checked first.

Do you have the monitor connected to the PSU by any chance? If so, use a separate power cable for the monitor instead.

For whatever reason, the current used by the monitor outlet runs over the very same fuse. I blew the fuse in my IBM PC that way as well.

No its removed from the system (or system to be build hehe) so no load of any kind yet. Will take it out of its metal casing to see if I can see anything suspicious.
